What do you do after you rape a 12 year old deaf dumb and blind girl?
Brake her fingers so she cant tell her mom.

See? This is called practicing freedom of speech. Unless I'm ordering people to harm someone or revealing government secrets, it's protected under the constitution. Everything can be made fun of and if you don't like it, don't listen to it. OOHHH someone said something offensive and my pure sensibilities can't handle it, that's called democracy.

I especially like the moral crusade of OP putting 3 no in the poll xD
Also jokes about prison man rape are always made and not considered offensive but woman rape is? Please explain...

Comedy is a form of art and either it is all okay, or none of it is. Sorry gotta go with it is okay to make jokes about rape. Can't enforce your standards onto others especially when the person's job is to be an entertainer. Hell I've heard worse too from comedians like Lewis Black and George Carlin.
I'd say Richard Pryor was (R.I.P.) the most offensive comedian around.

No, rape is never acceptable to joke about.

Why? Well, there's multiple reasons,

1) There's a pretty good chance there will be a rape victim, and you're joke might very well trigger them. And y'know what? Taking that chance ain't worth it, especially since rape jokes usually suck.

2) Because when you make light of rape, you are directly contributing to rape culture. When rape is just a mild threat that is thrown about, that is when the experiences of rape victims are being made invisible, that is when the actions of rapists is being excused and that is when society as a whole treats rape less seriously.

Nothing is beyond joking about.

But Daniel Tosh wasn't joking; he was being an asshole.

Funnily enough, your post is about just ignoring jokes you dislike and your joke was one of the least tasteful I've ever heard, lol.

Your title said he threatened her, but the thread makes it seem like he was joking.
I admit, that joke was a bit tactless, but I can't really be mad at him. If that's what makes him laugh, let him have his fun. The attitude that rape jokes encourage rape reminds me greatly of the "video games make you violent argument" that's been going on since Columbine, and there is probably a near-zero amount of people on this site who actually think that video games would make you a serial killer.
Mmm, the OP is outrageously sensationalist and a blatant lie.

Heads up, OP: your comments constitute libel, a criminal offense. You state as a fact that "Daniel Tosh threatens Woman with Gang Rape," when he did nothing of the sort. Libel is "the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, or nation a negative image."

While making rape jokes at a comedy club, Daniel Tosh was told off by a woman who didn't that rape was very funny. He started making jokes about how funny it would be if she was gang raped.

So Tosh then starts making some very generalizing, declarative statements about rape jokes always being funny, how can a rape joke not be funny, rape is hilarious, etc. I don?t know why he was so repetitive about it but I felt provoked because I, for one, DON?T find them funny and never have. So I didnt appreciate Daniel Tosh (or anyone!) telling me I should find them funny. So I yelled out, ?Actually, rape jokes are never funny!?
I did it because, even though being ?disruptive? is against my nature, I felt that sitting there and saying nothing, or leaving quietly, would have been against my values as a person and as a woman. I don?t sit there while someone tells me how I should feel about something as profound and damaging as rape.
After I called out to him, Tosh paused for a moment. Then, he says, ?Wouldn?t it be funny if that girl got raped by like, 5 guys right now? Like right now? What if a bunch of guys just raped her??
Well, I'm never watching Tosh.0 again...
Then again, I never did...
Hope this shows up on Jezebel...
Really slimy move. Actually, this kind of reminds me of the Kramer incident...
Update: Well, did this story ever get big quick... HuffPo and Think Progress in a very short time! The wonders of social media!
One, how is she surprised that Tosh said this, two, welcome to modern comedy, it's pretty dark.

Poll desperately needs a yes option.

Aside from that any kind of joke can be funny if done right. Heck I found the joke kind of funny
if only for the shock value

I haven't seen the bit, and I'm not that familiar with Daniel Tosh so I can't say for sure. The older I get, the less and less I'm impressed with shock humour because I've realized how easy it is, sort of lazy comedy. I still enjoy the odd South Park episode, and some of the politically incorrect rants of my favourite comics, but only because I feel the people producing the material are geniunely talented and have something to say about the particular topic, and not just going for cheap laugh after cheap laugh. I also don't enjoy jokes about rape, but I probably would have just left if I thought the material was just offensive and not funny. He also could have made fun of the heckler in some other way than by joking about her getting raped, that just seems mean, but I think I read somewhere that's not what he said. Don't know, again, I haven't seen the act.

Any joke can be funny, absolutely nothing is sacred.
Patrice Oneal really says it best

Also, I'm amused that all the people against rape jokes go right to personal attacks against anyone who would support a joke. Because clearly if you can find a joke about rape funny you're misogynist/sexist who mostly likely beats blind orphans in your basement all while drinking the blood of baby seals out of Old Yeller's skull, twirling your mustache and cackling...and you're probably a Republican.

Yes I have, and considering the speed your replied to me, you didn't bother to watch the video, so why bother quoting me?
Oh look this guy got raped and it was terrible....yea horrific things happen to people, but if you can make fun of any other terrible things, you can't pretend rape is the sole sacred exception.

Edit: Post #41 on the second page.

Right.

In theory there is nothing wrong with a joke about rape. A generalised statement, an attack against rapists, or a good 'aren't you going to ravish me?' moment can raise a chuckle.

Fixating on rape, and then suggesting someone should be raped and it would be funny, is not so. Joking about the victim of rape is poor taste at best.

The problem with rape, as with few other subjects, is that it is very hard to talk about properly without having experienced it. Had D Tosh been raped, more specifically had he been a woman and had been raped, because the experiences are different, then maybe I would think better of him. Someone using comedy to defuse something bad that happened to them, like depression, suicide or murder, is a common tactic and can be therapeutic and cathertic. Some asshole joking about how much fun it is to rape or lead to the rape of women is just terrible.

As for the response. This isn't even a decent response to a heckler. He's just suggested that a woman should be raped, and that he would find it funny. How exactly is that supposed to make me laugh? What sets this apart is that while rape jokes can be humourous, this situation is not in any way. This is a slimy skeevy human being trying to act like saying terrible things is automatically funny.
