Erm, joking about her being gang-raped isn't threatening it.
Actually it kinda is, he's adovcating her getting gang raped and directing the crowd.

It's like, on a larger scale, if someone interrupted during a presidential speech and the president looked at the camera and said "Wouldn't it be funny if someone murdered that guy (the interrupter)? Like right now"

Joking isn't threatening.
And yes, to me, it's acceptable to joke about it. If you don't like it, don't listen to bad rape jokes. However, i can certainly see how someone could make a good rape joke.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. Some guy who got famous for being a dick and other people thinking it was funny made fun of some chick who decided to pipe in on one of his shows. Was it totally deserved? No, but it was bound to happen, knowing what kind of guy Tosh is, and his kind of "humor."

Where's a "yes" poll option? I thought it was funny and I will continue to watch Tosh.0 and any future comedy specials involving Daniel Tosh.
Just as I'll continue to post, retweet, and tweet this story to everyone I can until Tosh either apologizes or suffers monetary losses as the result of people no longer wishing to support him by consuming his product.
Glad to see that you'll stand behind a guy that thinks gang rape is funny.
Actually I find the fact that you posted a poll that had no option but your own incredibly offensive. Way more offensive then anything a comedian says to an asshole heckler. Perhaps instead of telling me what to think you could actually try an convince me or present an argument.

And I hope he has a surge of popularity in response to your nonsense.

Ahaha people still T.Ting about the poll options.
Well excuse me for seeing this thread for the first time. Guess I'm not as "cool" and up to date as you and don't follow your exact browsing habits.
Not you in particular - started the post before you posted. And definitely not just you haha. There are a lot of people ITT who like "dark" "comedy" but are apparently offended by a poll that isn't a 100% srs bsns attempt to gauge community reaction.
Ok, you have used it a few times, what the hell does ITT mean? I looked it up and found about 200 different things it could be. And does it really take that much longer not to be lazy and write it out?

And where are people getting offended, I see a bunch of people being entertained how childish the thing is, but I guess over sensitive people see offense where there is none.
ITT = in this thread.

Dude I just responded to seems pretty offended haha. And this has been going on for eight pages. "Naw man rape 'jokes' are cool and the ministry of polls will receive my letter about this mockery of the polling system tonight."
Mockery, what people resort to when they have nothing interesting left to say. Classy.

Wrap it up people, this is over, they're not gonna listen to you, they just want people to agree with them, if not they'll just mock you. Leave em to it.

To be honest I would find that hilarious if he was joking. Which he would be.

Also dat poll. It's just kinda annoying because it shows the OPs bias. The ministry will hear about this I assure you. They will rain holy wrath down upon you for your degradation of the sacred and holy polling system, you shall burn and be crushed by our mighty army as we take vengeance upon you for desecrating the poll!

My semi-serious poll (mostly intended as a troll) is more offensive than gang rape jokes?

Couple things

You have some supposedly "serious business" to discuss, and you make a joke poll? Tonally inconsistent much, obviously it can't be that important to you if YOU are willing to joke about it.

and two, you are telling me what opinion I should have and purposely suppressing conflicting opinions in that poll. I feel implying I don't have a right to my own opinion far more offensive then a fucking joke to a heckler who had it coming.

No women were gang-raped in the telling of this joke... because it's a fucking joke. get over it.

Well, we all know 9 out of 10 people enjoy Gang Rape. OP, you are the 10 Percent!

Anyway, in all seriousness, some rape jokes are funny, and some comedians handle hecklers more amusingly than others.

Jimmy Carr, for instance, is pretty excellent at it:

In humour and when making jokes everything is fair game. I can make a joke about rape, murder, genocide, niggers, dead babies, retards, gays, feminists and terrorists and everything should be fine, people just need to know when to laugh and when to have thicker skin.

As for people who are or have been affected by the examples I listed understand that when you are laughing at a joke somebody else somewhere is probably offended. If you still insist on complaining then don't watch a comedian who is known for being offensive and even then only complain on when you witness it first hand and not react so someone else's outrage. It is just silly.

(My favorite comedian is Frankie Boyle)

Poll is stacked.

Yes rape is funny. Victims are always crying and splitting their sides from laughter.

You can make good jokes about absolutely anything. This guy, however, did definitely not manage to do that.

Rape jokes are funny, but like all jokes, you got to craft them in a way that it becomes hilarious. They way Tosh did it though, I don't find it funny at all, I think it would be funnier if that woman ended up raping Tosh with a strap-on, videotaping the whole thing and then made him watch it while making half-assed observations in a "funny" manner.

I understand being offended by rape jokes but the overly biased poll annoys me, you should leave room for fair discussion even on this topic.

I'm not surprised by this Danial Tosh's comedy comes off as little more then shock humor, I'd be more surprised by him not joking about rape during a routine, which is why I don't watch the guy he purposely sets out to offend people and is rarely funny about it.

Well Daniel Tosh's main category of comedy is dark humor. Sometimes it delves into incredibly dark areas. Being offended at what he does is like being offended at Lisa Lampanelli for calling any man that looks even slightly effeminate a ******.

Its just what they do.
It's what they do when they're incapable of telling real jokes.

It doesn't offend me, it just makes me roll my eyes.

Too many comedians nowadays are resorting to those kinds of shocking statements in order to get a response. It's laziness. It's much easier to say "oh rape is funny" than it is to actually put some thought into your humor.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean people should stand for this kinda bullshit if he said it to a woman's face who clearly wasn't finding it funny and was uncomfortable. When someone pays you money to be entertained you don't then single out that person just because you think its funny, you move on and continue the comedy routine.
She could've left the show at any given point in time you know. You can hardly expect a performer to change his entire show mid-show because one person doesn't like it.

That's a really weird idea, because he wasn't, and that would seem blindingly obvious.

Directing a crowd involves saying things like "You should do X or Y".
Its rape. She even said she felt she couldn't just leave as was he was saying was beyond a joke and was just fucked up. Plus, this is simple. How is it wrong to be offended at someone making rape jokes, then saying "wouldn't it be funny if she got raped, by like 5 guys."

wow... biased title and a one-sided poll. seriously?

first of all, he didnt "threaten" her, he joked about her because she was heckling him and interrupting his act. you dont do that to a comedian. if you do, they will be as ruthless with you as they can be... and you would deserve it.

second, the whole point of his joke is that you should be able to joke about ANYTHING. no, rape isnt funny. no, the holocaust isnt funny. nor abuse, death, pain, disease, etc. but jokes about them can be funny. there shouldnt be anything in the world that people cant make a joke about. nothing is off limits.
