I keep seeing this argument crop up, and it kind of worries me. How is this 'fun at someone else's expense'?
I mean, I could say, for instance, that I think it would be hilarious if your mother, or your sister, or your girlfriend got raped repeatedly by a gang of thugs, but what fun has been had? Did I enjoy myself? Did you? Did those people who witnessed it? Whence cometh the fun? What form does it take?
I see the appeal to 'dark humor' repeated over and over again, like it meant something - but it doesn't mean anything, because it's not an explanation of anything.
So, please, somebody explain this to me.
How is this funny? How is this anything more than misogynistic and creepy and disgusting and sad?
Cause I honestly don't see it.
