Poll: Dante's Inferno: What's YOUR opinion?

After playing the Demo i thought the game was ok, nothing special but still pretty fun and looks pretty cool ( nothing like the poem ).

What does everyone else here think of Dante's Inferno?

I think it's idiotic. I'm a firm proponent of letting a game's quality speak for itself, but in this case, I'm making an exception and outright refusing to play it. Whether or not it's good is not the point; they took one of the greatest works of literature mankind has ever produced and turned it into a 13 year old's daydream. It's like taking The Color Purple and turning it into an FPS.

True. Really, if they just named it Inferno, and just had similarities, it wouldn't be looked down upon as much. However, I am looking forward to the game, as I loved God of War, and this is very similar to it. Plus, the demo was fun.

after watching the cut scenes, i don't know how the hell they got any of that. killing peasants, a fight with Death (literally the Grim Reaper), and..... Beast Riding?

I haven't played it, but my little brother had a blast playing it. Partly because it was a God of War clone, and part because it showed boobs every 5 seconds.

Why is everyone so pissed about them "destroying" the story? Could they have really made a game out of the material otherwise?

I liked it.

It wasn't like the poem but then again, how exactly could you make a faithful representation of it while still having a fun game? (when we're talking about a game then I'm more interested in if it's fun to play than if it does literature justice)

To be honest I'm still a little unsettled that it got past the Australian censors, I mean, it has tits AND wangs.

...They're plotting something, I can smell it.

...I'll probably pick it up, though not on release, I guess I'll wait and see what other people say about it first.

It was ok, but I was completely taken aback by just how much it feels like God of War to play.

Every mechanic, from the movement speed, to the double jump, to the button placing and way the camera moves... is identical to GOW.

It's a bit cheeky but hey, I guess if it works.

Showing a penis in what the mainstream media has decided is a childrens hobby is somewhat contraversial. I (and presumably others) are shocked at the complete lack of a reaction from all the partys who usually cry out "think of the children" somewhere around this point.

Cheers, I as well. Partially because of the horrible literary butchering, but also from hearing of the demo the game came off as incredibly tasteless.

It's God of War with Krato's model replaced. Dante runs, jumps, double jumps identically like Kratos, he has moves that are exactly the same, like driving a daggger/cross into the face of a pinned enemy. He rides monsters by using his weapon (which they're doing in God of War 3), he uses a big whip like weapon, he has moves that are again identical, like swiping an enemy into the air then bouncing them off the ground a few times, you get similar spells, you get health/mana the same way you open doors the same way.

It's a shameless clone, I was looking forward to it till I played the demo and saw that it's identical, not trying a single new thing or even trying to be different. Really this is just God of War for 360 and that's all I'll give it. Being that I have both PS3 and 360 I'll stick to God of War and Darksiders.
