I play Skyrim on my PC, so I can't get the Dawnguard DLC just yet. Just as well, I feel... assuming there will only be about 30 days time difference, that lines up around my birthday. Regardless, I still have a strong interest in the add-on and have been eagerly looking for videos of the expansion. Unfortunately for me, every single bloody Dovahkiin out there seems to think Volkihar are the shit and turn vampire at the earliest possibility. I was to know more about the DAWNGUARD, but the smattering of incomplete character entries on the game's wiki isn't exactly sating my appetite. Has ANYONE decided to go Dawnguard?

Now that I have discovered that something I thought might have been a problem is now not a problem, there is no question about it. I'm going Dawnguard. Even if I'm not gonna be Mr. Manbat and have super special powers. Because I'll be something better. I'm going to be a vampire hunter. Challenging and rewarding work to say the least, because I feel that being the VL is a bit OP considering how squishy we mortals are. I am going to prove my superiority by taking on these creatures.

And I mean it too. Fighting vamps is hard work.

Is you vampire? Me is Dawnguard.

Sorry, had to point it out :p

I immediately chose Dawnguard without hesitation.

I'm not going to cloud my pure Dunmer blood with that dirty vampirism.

I enchanted my crossbow so it deals fire damage. Adding the explosive bolts just seems unfair now.

Ah, the troll. Easily one of the most asshole enemies in gaming. To use one against my foes just seems like pure bliss now.

Just don't waltz into town with him. You end up with... mixed results.

I'm dawnguard on my main playthrough, which fits seeming as all my good characters have a tendency to take particular interest in supernatural quests, and my main playthrough is a werewolf. Going all van-helsing on their asses.

I had to start a new playthrough on which I plan on going vampire. I thought for all my other characters, it'd be too inconvenient.

Waiting for PS3 version, but am going DG. No vamp for me, and I hate WW too. If I wanted to play the game in 3rd person I would...probably play a different game because 3rd person in skyrim sucks for me.

Though I'll only get the dlc if they stop the idiotic vampire deathsquads that murder all your npcs whether you are around to see it or not. All I read, and the vids I've seen of dawnguard show ghosttowns. Forums are about 90/10 against it too so far.

Who needs quest givers anyways? In an RPG? Fuck em, right?

I like my npcs, its why I've only done the main quest once. I'm pretty sure npcs are the main thing that differentiates an RPG from other games where you kill everything that moves.

I fucking despise dragons because they are godsdamned cowards that refuse to engage in combat unless its with an old woman or mudcrab. I wish they would only appear at their walls or in predictable remote areas, or like a lot of people that npcs would run indoors and let the guards handle it. Or make npcs essential while a dragon is present. That would solve everything. Spontaneous dragon attacks, you get to learn shouts, and all the shops and those misc quests that make up 99% of the game are still there. But the piles of dragon skeletons falling from the sky when you get near a town gets old quick.

Since I don't like any of the shouts enough to want dragons around, and both dragon armors look like ass it was never an issue.

But now they got those new weapons... the W. axe, B. axe, and great sword look sweeeeeeet.

The new armors in DG that I've seen don't look that great. The Ancient Falmer armor looks good but I think there is only one set of them. The actual armor the dawnguard wears is underwhelming both aesthetically and looks like it protects for crap.

Another reason I'm looking forward to DLC, the crossbow has stagger, ignored 50% armor (one of the 3 does anyway) and its ready to fire. I think it has faster projectile speed, more power, and less on no arcing. I have seen the reload, and its not bad. Better with quickdraw.

Because destruction does crap damage unless you use fire with the fear perk, and impact spam dual incinerate at 0 cost.

I much prefer ice, but its the least effective on EVERYTHING aside from some dragons and flame atronachs. Lightning has range issues, and sometimes I hit dead on at close range and it misses.

DG has new restoration spells I hear that damage the undead. Finally restoration will be a valid school of magic...

Anyone else avoid the main quest in Bethesda games? I had oblivion 5 years (stopped playing for several of them) before I went to Kvatch, and subsequently hated oblivion gates and all forms of daedra. Or having the Enclave show up everywhere in F3. Its like Bethesda can't create a world without deciding to fill it with annoying bullshit like dragons and genocidal vampire hitsquads if you dare to actually progress the plot. Luckily the main quests in all these games are easily the weakest aspect of the games and easily avoided.

I'm a PC gamer as well, and even though someone managed to crack the thing to work flawlessly on PC, I'm gonna wait for the actual release.

My main character, a cute Imperial chick is all about good deeds and justice. And before I even knew about the upcoming DLC, I took her to vampire lairs to slay vampires. She was a vampire hunter before it was cool! So yeah, I'm going to hunt some vampires.

My other character, a Dark Elf obsessed with power will of course go with the vampires. I'll probably kill them as well eventually, just to prove that I'm the most powerful creature in all of Skyrim.

Well the character I'm playing through currently with is my "good" character, so I sided with the Dawnguard. She's also a werewolf, so, you know....

It really wasn't even a choice. I went Dawnguard pretty much immediately (just beat it tonight). Only thing that was really stopping me was the daughter, who was surprisingly well written. But in the end, didn't really matter.

I actually was a huge fan of the Dawnguard armor. It may just be personal preference, but the later more extravagant armors you get in the core game were awkward looking. I like the simplistic look of the Dawnguard armor. It's not trying to be over the top (like the glass armor, which I refused to put on my manly and respectable Nord). I feel it could operate realistically, and both the light and the heavy actually come in about 4 different colors.

But then again, that's just me. I don't think Skyrim's art style works well when they overload the fantasy design in the armors. Though the Snow Elf armor is actually a good example of them doing it right.

I think their biggest problem is just not really knowing how to end the main questlines, but I see where you're coming from.

I will say that I thought they did a great job on this DLC. There were a few moments during combat where I actually went "Holy shit, that was fucking bad ass". A feeling I found quite lacking in the core game, but actually ended up really enjoying in this game. Funnily enough, one of those moments was when a vampire hit squad was sent to ambush me.

It just worked out really well, and I feel that this DLC flowed together much better than the initial game. Plus, with the addition of the Face Changer in the Ratways, you can make your person look older and more experienced. Really helped with the immersion.

Also, when I blot out the sun, I notice vampires attacking towns, does this happen if you go with the dawnguard?
With the Dawnguard ending, I haven't noticed it. I haven't explored to frequently yet, but I don't think so.

I'm going Dawnguard. It just makes more sense for my character right now. I will, however, do alternate play through's with different characters in the future.

I hate vampires.

When I actually get around to starting my playthrough of Skyrim, my character will be joining the Dawnguard.

It never crossed my mind to do otherwise.
