Deus ex hands down. No contest. Deus Ex possibly is the best shooter RPG i have played in the past 5 years. The depth, they put into the game really makes it feel like a world that people actually inhabit.

I literally only have three problems with this game, the voice acting can sometimes be a bit <link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7LGjXQlWoo>hit and miss, the game could of had more sidequests to help increase the overall amount of time playing, and there is one boss fight you have to be good at combat for, so if you put all yours upgrades into hacking, social or stealth, you are going to die a lot on that mission. These are hardly gamebreaking though, and while I was playing through I barely noticed.

Deus ex creates an immersive environment right from the start, every thing from the people, the vibe and mood of each city hub, the musical score, it gets you so wrapped into the conspiracy of the game and trying to make to sense of whats going on that it drives you to explore each city hub throughly before moving on to main quests that eventually progress you out of each city.

I'm gonna go with Dead Island. I snagged both of them from Redbox and played for a few hours, and was very underwhelmed by Deus Ex.

Dead Island has been keeping me entertained all day.

Dead Island without a doubt, Whats funnier then a four player co-op game? Remember Border lands? And then if you throw in zombies?? L4D fun time.... Come on seriously? it's no contest.

and if you want a Single Player game go for Space Marine 40K.

Human Revolution's trailers looked alright. It's gameplay, plot and immersion were brilliant.

Dead Island's (first) trailer was a masterpiece of short film. It's gameplay sucks.

Deus Ex wins this for me. It has a pretty good amount of polish and extremely solid gameplay, and a pretty awesome story.

Dead Island from the two hours I have played, is buggy and feels a bit unpolished. The game itself is still rather fun though.

DEUS EX
DEUS EX
DEUS FUCKING EX

I'm a little biased though. I think zombies are lame, and Human Revolution is my new favorite game.

So take my opinion for what it is. Biased as fuck.

Boarder lands? Sounds good, will have to look out for that one.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyway, I haven't played Dead Island, so can't fairly vouch for one over the other. I somehow think they're quite difference beasts, HR and Dead Island, so it really depends what you're after.

I'll be intrigued to see if Dead Island turns out to be a good, memorable game or ends up just being "that competently average game with that trailer that everyone was talking about for a while".

Go for Deus Ex, if you really want a zombie game like Dead Island, just play Dead Rising and L4D again, or get them on sale (seriously, that's exactly what that game is).

Go for Deus Ex. Dead Island seems like fun, but in all honesty it resembles Dead Rising in a lot of ways, so you might as well get that and use the money you save to buy Deus Ex, the RPG which has been going through the roof in a way that this hack and slasher could only hope to achieve.

Dead Island looks like a fun game, but I really don't think it could compare to Human Revolution in my opinion. That being said, I consider Human Revolution to be one of my favorite games now, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Deus Ex. Have yet to play Dead Island, but if you want to be in on any discussion concerning GOTY, grab Deus Ex.

Space Marine.

Let me just post my sign here and pitch my tent next to it.

Seriously, Zombie and Aug fans, grow a pair of enormous balls, get into some Armour that's physically a impossibility, and grab the biggest gun on the planet and go blow up some orcs. Seriously Deus Ex players, what sort of pussy's need cover? Space marines carry all the cover they need on their bodies. Their titanic blue armour is far better than that pussy-suit that Jensen wears. Seriously, who wants invisibility when you have the option to wear an entire M1 Abrams Tank as armour?

[small]This was all said in a sarcastic tone, and is not meant to be taken entirely seriously. Although I still prefer Space Marines to Deus ex any day[/small]

Judging by the poll so far, I'd say the answer to your question is fairly unanimous.

Deus Ex, for me, is definitely the best game released this year so far. But I wouldn't hype it up too much, it has it's drawbacks. Think of it as a few scruffs and chips on an otherwise perfect diamond.

I haven't followed Dead Island since it was announced that it was simply the same zombie shit, different zombie day instead of the emotionally charged, exploratory masterpiece that it's teaser trailer "teased" to.

For me it's a no-brainer (considering I already have DE:HR and have no interest in DI).
