if you want a Single Player game go for Space Marine 40K.
I thought Multiplayer was supposed to be it's strong point?
Otherwise the only 40k fans that would be buying it are Ultramarine fans.

Deus Ex, then save for Dead Island and Space Marine. All three games are worth owning, though I actually would recommend Space Marine first, since that one has multiplayer, and it's quite popular at the moment. Also, it's really really really really fun. Not the deepest game ever, but I honestly don't care if a game is deep, so long as it does what's it sets out to do well. Deus Ex on the other hand is just awesome. Really recommend it, though I admittedly haven't played much Dead Island...though I honestly didn't care for it. Probably just because too many zombie games in the past couple years, and while it does a few neat things, it's honestly not different enough from games like left 4 dead or (IMO) the superior killing floor, though it does have much more emphasis on story then those games.

tl;dr- Get Space Marine if you have any interest in multiplayer, but if not get Deus Ex. wait for a price drop in Dead Island, or if a few friends get it, get it too, as it's a good co-op romp.

Deus Ex I'd say, although I haven't tried Dead Island yet and curious about that game.

Damn, can't chose either...><

I've loved Deus Ex so far, and Dead 'sland really just seemed like another zombie game.

Ooh, tough one. I am really enjoying both of them. I voted for Dead Island because it is amazing, but so is Deus Ex. If you have online and friends get Dead Island (I am assuming the Online is even better than the single player as I have not tried it yet) but if you are going to be playing it by yourself get Deus EX.

Man, Dead island is a blast, and it's multiplayer. I haven't played Deus Ex HR, but I wanna... just when I'm finally done with Dead Island maybe. That is, if it doesn't last til Skyrim.

its simple

if you want co-op and a zombie theme : dead island

if you want only solo and a cyberpunk theme : dues ex

both good games imo, but i much prefer dues ex but that could be put down to the setting and story. Dues ex offers quite a few ways to play which might tailor it to you much better than dead island will.

I cant comment on dues ex that much since ive only played about 5-6 hours of it. Im one of the unlucky people thats experiencing crashes and cant find a fix that works. So ill have to shelf it for now or maybe get a console version and play that.

Deus ex hands down. No contest. Deus Ex possibly is the best shooter RPG i have played in the past 5 years. The depth, they put into the game really makes it feel like a world that people actually inhabit.

I literally only have three problems with this game, the voice acting can sometimes be a bit <link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7LGjXQlWoo>hit and miss, the game could of had more sidequests to help increase the overall amount of time playing, and there is one boss fight you have to be good at combat for, so if you put all yours upgrades into hacking, social or stealth, you are going to die a lot on that mission. These are hardly gamebreaking though, and while I was playing through I barely noticed.

Deus ex creates an immersive environment right from the start, every thing from the people, the vibe and mood of each city hub, the musical score, it gets you so wrapped into the conspiracy of the game and trying to make to sense of whats going on that it drives you to explore each city hub throughly before moving on to main quests that eventually progress you out of each city.
The music in this game was AMAZING! Music can have a huge effect on how a game feels, the music for this game makes it feel like there are secrets needing to be uncovered.

Off Topic: T.E.C 3001 also has good music.
On Topic: Since I haven't played Dead Island I recommend Deus Ex. Pretty much for the reasons up there ^^

Absolutely! Lol I've just been playing Oblivion, salivating over trailers. Sigh.
I know the wait is killing me...plus the fact I wont have my Xbox until December.

By the way: "You know what I'd like to be? I mean, if I had my goddamn choice, I'd just be a catcher in the rye and all"

i'm playing both (as in trading deus ex for dead island)

i don't think deus ex HR is quite so good as people make it out to be, wieghty archaisisms hinder it from being a tour de force. I don't think deus ex will age well but i think for anyone serious about games it is worth your time; because its mature theme is somewhat unique in the mainstream gaming market.

but dead island has the makings of a classic forgetten by the looming shadows of franchise sequels. I'm yet to play dead island and i'm filled with trepidation investing in it but i'm gong to lash out and say I think it will be a better game with richer and more engageing experience.

Neither because of Resistance 3.
However, I plan to get Deus Ex soon. Dead Island seems like fun, but not much more to it than that.

I have played both games. Deus Ex has ZERO replayability. I say that because you cannot use your same character save on a new game. Once you beat it its over. Dead Island however lets you keep pretty much everything and start all over.

Deus Ex:
A fantastic game that will pull you into it and make you feel a part of the game. The mechanics in the game are amazing and well done. Nothing like knocking someone out and dragging there body all around :p Even the good NPC's can be destroyed at will. Its a decently well polished game. Very few quarks and bugs. More side quests to extend the game play a bit is highly desired by most who have played through the game. It is a bit linear. You feel as though you may be able to travel all over and visit the other cities at will but the game restricts this and is a bit annoying. Rather short game imo for an rpg and a bit too strict on the "open world"

Dead Island:
This one is not as polished as Deus Ex but more then makes up for it in its open world and explorability. Its very buggy and needs a new patch to fix a lot of the issues that can be very annoying however none of the issues are game breaking so its tolerable. I have put more hours into this game then the whole of Deus Ex and I'm still not at 50% complete with the main quest line. There is a lot more to do in this game and more to explore. Chopping the heads off of zombies or limbs is fun and doesn't lose its cool factor. Blowing up or burning multiple mobs is fun and driving into them with a truck is really fun. Especially when you get to a thug and you have to slam him into a wall a few times with the truck before he finally dies.

Final thoughts:
Both games are very good. Deus Ex is the "Popular" one due to the original Deus Ex. Dead Island is the new kid on the block. Half the people in this poll have yet to play one or the other game and thus the poll is biased heavily for Deus Ex.

I've only played, well I am playing, Dead Island so I can't speak for Deus Ex right now. Dead Island takes some getting used to, the controls are not as..."fast" I guess I can say, as Left 4 Dead but the graphics are a lot better, the melee system is balls to the wall immersive and realistic, to me at least, and so far the story is pretty good. Also, picking up a baseball bat and clobbering zombies with it is fun. Finding the blueprints that allows you to put nails into it and have a home-made mace to clobber zombies with is even more fun.

I do need to get through as much of the game as possible though because once Gears 3 comes out on September 20, which is only 12 days from now, it'll be awhile before I go back to Dead Island.
