Dead Rising is really good and it's one of the better 360 titles but it's far from the best zombie game ever made. I mean, it's cool how they have all the little zombie movie touches in it, but it's a screwed up game sometimes. That small font almost killed the game for me. If they would have taken this story and added it to Left 4 Dead then that would be the best zombie game ever made. I like Dead Rising better than Left 4 Dead, mind you.

Dead rising is good and entertaining, but not the best. I don't think there ever will be a best "zomby" game or any kind of best game for that matter. There will always be something better...its just a matter of whether or not it exists yet.

I hesistate to participate on the grounds that:

1. "Best game" perpetually has that problem of not being clear on "best in what way?"

2. Dead Rising is only one in a several genres of zombie games.

3. Judging by the misspellings and capitalization issues from the OP, it's like I'm being asked to participate in a poll written by a 7-year-old.

But I'm perhaps being elitist by mistreating our 7-year-olds seeking validation by posting bloaty polls on adults' message boards. So I'll just vote, "yes" Dead Rising in the best game ever. Lets go buy stickers and balloons and have an early birthday party!

I"m glad to see that this thread has attracted some pretentious fucks!
Some threads attract pretentiousness. Other ones trust it upon those whose senses are not completely deadened to ill-conceived action.

The word "Zomby" alone was enough to get my goat. But, I'm not completely resentful towards this thread. There's a certain innocent naivety to it that makes it hard to hate. Beating children for being children is hardly just.

It was getting close, but I felt it was really unrealistic and TOO over the top and campy some times. They were trying to shower it with seriousness, or at least that's the impression I got, but they have so many little things that make me dislike their attempts at a serious game. I'm not talking about their obvious Megaman references, I mean the whole cult thing. Seriously... you have time to make a sacrifice and pray WHILE being butt-munched by zombies. Honestly I'm the only guy in this whole place really doing something. No one else, who isn't a special agent doesn't' want to try and save people. And my motive is "I want a scoop" I know you want some cliches but I personally can't understand how, wanting a scoop goes to saving everyone in the building, curing the zombie virus, and then killing a man in a taken (not to mention destroying the tank).

Well, I can't bring myself to answer for two reasons,

One:There are many broad definitions of a zombie game, and I am not sure which one the poster is referring to

Two:I have many issues with the game. Guns, while having the upside of range and, in the case of the sniper and shotgun, power, suck due to the terrible aiming system. While the story is there, I have never been able to get past case file 2-1 simply due to the fact that I don't have enough commitment to keep away from the Enterance Plaza antique store and not spend the entire game hacking away at zombie with a battleaxe. Some of the acheivments are damn near impossible and I'm sure 7 day survivor has probably caused a significant portion of Red Ringed 360s. Save system pisses me off (pun unintended).

I couldn't even finish the thing! It either froze or I couldn't read the instructions or something stupid like that. I mean you could only save in specific places and to get there you had to across the mall losing health, ammo, and time! Plus I could never get anyone back to the safe area. To this day I still CURSE THE NAME DEAD RISING!

Loved this game but it is not the best made, Left4Dead puts this in the dust from what I've heard.

I might've agreed that Dead Rising was the best zombie game ever when I first picked it up, but on reflection, and w/ the relatively recent release of Left 4 Dead, I'd have to say that it's not the best zombie game ever. The House of the Dead series, Dead Rising, Resident Evil (if that counts anymore) and Zombie Revenge are all great, but Left 4 Dead takes the rotted flesh cake. For me, that is.

EDIT: Of course, as many people have already pointed out the word "best" is obviously a subjective word and this thread is basically rendered moot by that fact.

I say false. Dead Rising is an excellent game, with plenty of ridiculous fun - but it's full of flaws and by no means an excellent ZOMBIE game.
The constantly respawning inmates? The stupid radio calls? The irritating Metal Gear fist fight style final boss? The controls (oh lordy the controls!)? These are not positive aspects of the game.

And mind you, while playing you never really have that sense of fear upon seeing the legions of the undead. They're just an obstacle to overcome - there's no fear associated with them. The early Resident Evil (and Left 4 Dead on Expert) quite capably capture this feeling - but Dead Rising certainly does not.

But yeah, Dead Rising is still loads of gory fun, even if it's not the best Zombie game!
