I'm sure that if you're into survival horror games then you have definatley heard of Dead Space. It's kinda like a combination between Resident Evil and Event Horizen. It has its own movie (Dead Space Downfall), Its own website with ALOT of media (including an animated comic), an eerie version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, a sub-website with even more horror and i could go on, and on, and on!!! They're even talking about Dead Space 2!

Before the game was released the website provided more than enough backstory to flaunt the sheer awesomeness of the game. I have almost finished the game, and i am extremely impressed with what Electronic Arts has done.

So am i just being a psychopath, or does everyone else agree that this game is The Game of The Year?

If you dont know anything about Dead Space then visit the website: http://deadspace.ea.com/

Make sure that you select the U.S. as your country, or you wont have access to ALL the media

The sub website: http://www.noknownsurvivors.com/

Only weapon I played through with... Yes, to get the achievement... Lame I know. But it made the game more challenging for me, and I did beat the whole game with just the cutter...

I love the Plasma Cutter for whatever reason, I find it to be the most satisfying weapon.

I don't know that Dead Space is the Game of the Year, we'll have to see how Gears 2 turns out, and how the new Prince of Persia is, those are pretty damn hefty competition. Dead Space is pretty damn well made though.

I Highly doubt Dead Space will be GOTY...Shit, I doubt it'll even get nominated.

It'll probably get nominated, but I doubt it'll win.

I said the ripper. There's something about being able to cut off all of a necromorph's limbs with one shot that just seems cool (plus I trip over ammo for it all the time).

I love the plasma cutter, it's just great for everything. And I think you forgot about one of the guns..the force gun I think it was? The one that throws the enemies backwards. It does almost no damage, but it's really useful when you have bunches of the really fast enemies swarming at you. Knock 'em down and switch to a more powerful gun.

And Dead Space was a great game but with all the other great games coming out this holiday, it has no chance of being game of the year.

I had to go with the plasma cutter (due to the fact that you shoot gangsta styley), but the line cutter comes in a close second since it is capable of mass dismemberment.

Why wasn't the force gun in the poll?

To any game that anyone thinks could be Game of the year: FALLOUT 3
That is all.

I didn't have any special favourite, just mixed and matched for the creative kills.
I liked the game, it has a relentless atmosphere and it's pretty well executed. The gameplay is good but it's more shooter than horror game, although the hilariously bad melee attacks actually make it more scary. It's very well presented but the plot wasn't up to much. It's also too linear to be GoTY.

Love the Plasma Cutter.

Most versatile weapon in the game. Makes things much easier for targeting limbs at angles, especially in zero-G.

I hate the Force Gun...

It may take the horror genre GOTY but not overall. Left 4 Dead is going to give it some stiff competition. And I have only used the plasma cutter. I haven't tried any others yet

Certainly not game of the year material, but still the most solid effort I've seen EA put forth in a Looooong time.
And, Plasma cutter. By a mere rotation of 90 degree's, alot of cool levels of tactic are opened up to you. I also like the assault rifle, mostly just for the sheer ferocity of putting a couple dozen rounds down a hall when things get busy.

Might I also add that the line cutter is great? I love it when one of the fast enemies is rushing at me, only for me to shoot a line rack through their legs, chopping them both off and having the zombie fall face-first un front of me. Once, I did that when I was standing at the bottom of some stairs (the thing coming at me from the hallway on top of the stairs). I shot its legs out and it went flying over me and hit the wall behind me. Which was interesting since the game's physics aren't particularly wild, but that made it even funnier.

I'm going to go with the Linecutter, simply because two/four shots and whatever you're shooting at is dead. DEAD. Aswell as anyone behind them,

But, in this order:

Linecutter, Plasma cutter, Force gun (Killing those stupid baby-hydras), ripper (Because corpses might jump up at you, so dismembering them, I decided, was probably for the best).

The other guns sucked. Cept that kinesis gun was pretty funny for acouple minutes, randomly punching enemies around, but not worth the effort beyond that.

Allow me to ask why linearity is enough of a negetive aspect to deny this game GotY? Silent Hill 1-3, Resident evil 2 and Alone in the Dark (the new nightmare) were all linear games yet they were all also blilliant as well.

Then we turn our eye to horror games that were either entirely non linear or had non linear/open world aspects (like Dead Rising and Alone in the dark) and they were either terrible (AotD) or just 'alright' (DR).

The Ripper is just ridiculous. Fully upgraded, one shot will down pretty much any non-boss monster.
