I like the show because they show some insight on the weapons used by certain armies or factions.
The comparison en end result is complete bs though

the green beret vs spetsnaz episode was hilarious since the green beret guys kept insulting the others and kept saying (i rephrase slightly) "omg we have bigger balls" and the spetsnaz kept cool and when they won the green berets were all like mimimimimimimmi.
Dunno about you but my respect for the spetnaz went up after that episode.
Green beret was little different then yer typical cod kiddie whereas spetnaz was a pro in all things.

It's worth remembering that in that speed test where they had to clear several rooms with targets in it, green beret blitzed through since he knew those weren't real targets whereas the spetnaz guy did it as if they were real hostiles so took the time to ready himself each time and even reload (which is the main thing that cost him time) despite having enough bullets "just in case".

Spetnaz was the real winner of that show ^^ Green beret chump made the whole corps look bad.

I like the concept of the show, but never have seen the show.

That being said, since when did being enlightened have anything to do with enjoying a ludicrous tv show? Who really takes that show seriously anyway?

Also, on that bit about the IRA. Ever hear the phrase, "One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist"?

im just gonna get this out of the way first. as a first generation american in a cambodian family i would like to say our brutal dictator would blow Saddam Hussein out of the water.
disclaimer: i do not support the real pol pot in any way shape or form

ok in all honesty don't take the show seriously. it makes for great debate between me and my friends but thats pretty much it. also they got a new guy in this season that analyses battle tactics. and hes doing much better then the other guy that got booted off the show.

I thought those flaws were obvious? Maybe there are people out there who don't realize the warriors wouldn't apply those tactics in every battle, and maybe there are people out there who don't realize how the "experts" on each side hilariously exaggerate everything and even represent stereotypical versions of their warrior. But I always recognize that and qualify whatever conclusions they draw from the show, and it's pretty darn entertaining to watch.

I will admit that they glorified the IRA too much IMO, but it was still done with entertainment and some humor in mind.

EDIT: Just a small point: why do some of you think "freedom fighter" and "terrorist" are mutually exclusive? I mean, if a group like the IRA is supposedly fighting for freedom/independence, they can still use terror tactics to further their goals, and qualify as both. Those terms aren't synonymous with "good guys" and "bad guys", although I don't believe terrorism can ever be a good thing (closest I can think of would be the nuking of Japan to end the war sooner). I am *not* sympathizing with terrorists btw, in case anyone completely misread that.
It's extremely debateable about wether or not the IRA were fighting for freedom, but I'd just like the show to recognize that the terrorists are just that, terrorists. They can call them freedom fighters as well, but I'd like it if the show recognized that they killed civilians and propogated terror to get what they. It'd also be nice if they realized that Britain didn't have a war against the IRA, which was how they portrayed it. Not saying it wasn't serious, but it wasn't two sides fighting it out, it was one side being a real pain for the other, with the other side not really being able to do much about it.

It's stupid, it's inaccurate, but goddammit, it's hella fun to watch.

Just got to remember to not put too much emphasis on the results. You've seen what they do on the computer. Whole thing is decided by excel spreadsheets.

Deadliest Warriors is many things, but it is not srs business.

ummm your alittle bit late as two of things which you say the show lacks are now being tested since the show has started its third season. And although you do raise some good points, I must mention first to clear the air that even though I am capable of seeing flaws in the logic and things that I might ardently dislike( episodes such as IRA Vs Taliban and Pol Pot Vs Saddam being two of them) I am a big fan of the show. That said I watch the show first and foremost for entertainment(and I love the whole what if factor of it), not for the historically accurate bits since I know that its bound to get some of its facts (which can be critical to weapons testing, warrior conditioning, and weighing things like x-factors,) wrong. So yeah its not perfect by any means but I still throughly enjoy it.

I agree to a certain extent but "Wow, hardcore" while watching IRA bombings is in supremely poor taste.

But it pretends to be serious and factual, it acts like it is hard science. Maybe I am reading to much into it, but maybe it should make it clearer that it is light entertainment.
I'd be worried if many people believe their 'science' though. When comparing two data sets (as the show does) the first rule is that the two data sets must have been produced under identical conditions. Just thinking back to a few episodes I've seen I can remember the Viking vs Ninja weapon tests where the Ninja weapons were swung by Gymfreak McSteroid and the Viking weapons by a long-haired hippy type who had the muscle tone of a limp elastic band. Other examples include the SEALS vs Spetznaz episode where the SEALS grenades were tested for 'lethality' against unshielded targets in an enclosed space (to amplify the blast) and the Spetznaz grenades were tested out in the open against lightly shielded targets. The data collected by their 'analyst' is so badly skewed in favour of one party over the other that they may as well just state at the start of the show "We'd like these guys to win!" and be done with it.

Maybe I'm not viewing the show as your average viewer would (having been a data analyst myself for the last fifteen years) but to me the entire show screams "total piss-take!". It's just a televised version of those 'X vs Y' arguements people get into, and as a result the situations are totally hypothetical and any conclusions drawn are ultimately meaningless.

It is cool to see what ancient weapons to do ballistic gel dummies though.
Errrr....not be this dude, but u got some stuff wrong. It was Viking vs Samurai and it was Green Berets vs Spetznaz. thats all I wanted to say. >_<

For example, in the Vietcong vs Waffen SS episode, does it talk about how the Vietcong were guerilla fighters, who would spring up from holes in the ground, kill you and then disappear? Nope, they just treat it as a one on one (fine, fair enough, five on five) fight to the death
Oh god, I love that episode. The stupidity is just off the charts. When they do the fight segment of the show, it begins with the Vietcong in the middle of a brutal interrogation while the SS ambush them. Complete and utter role reversal. They can't even get the fight scene historically accurate, not that they ever were to begin with.

OT: Yeah. Pisses me off too. It's a pretty damn tasteless show all around.

I gave up after Gangus Khan vs Alex the great
They gave it to Khan a hit and run fighter/ Alex was know to ride up frount of his men. His men loved him and after the persion where defeated they loved his too. Alex loved to fight there a story where he one scaled a wall so fast he was the only one up there for a few moments while everyone else tried to catch up.

That said it is an ok show fun to watch but not reall anything anyone show says. It more a weapos vs weapons then warrior vs warrior.

Take the knight and the Pirate. The pirate won becuase of the gun. Yet there a reason they carried 12 of them. With sea and the flient lock was known to mis fire 9 out of 10. They made it look like it went off every time with out a hitch.

The best moment from the show to prove it is crap is on the Jesse James Versus Al Capone
Comparing a Tommy Gun a a Six Shooter, waste of time. Then comparing a rifle to a hand grenade as long range? Honestly what the crap.

It's a stupid show for stupid people on a network that focuses on entertaining beer-swilling fratboy retards. Don't think about it too much. If you have the capacity for higher thought, they don't want you watching anyway.

Yeah, I can't watch this show. I'm the type of guy that is incapable of watching shows based on historical events and mythology unless they are factual. You should of seen me when I was watching 'Clash of the Titans' and Hades was repeatedly said to be evil.

They play with weapons then have a fight scene, I don't really care about accuracy. As for the taste? I'm kind of glad they don't shy away form controversy and modern evil. Vikings and Mongols were just as bad as the terrorists today. I remember the Colombian drug runners had escaped, not really supporting them but willing to show what they are capable of. I do really hate how they make the other side scoff at anything the opposing side does though. "Oh you decapitated them? Lame. The way we would have done it would be much more hardcore." However I have stopped watching it, its a stop filliping though channels if its on kind of thing.

Deadliest Warrior isn't exactly there to provide accurate analysis of warriors, their weapons, their techniques, etc, it's for pretty much entertainment only. If you want something informative about war, check out old episodes of Fight Science, though I'm not sure if it's still on anymore.

I agree how they test the shit, and how they make the battle is shit, but the show is pretty hilarious.

A bunch of douches fighting over what guy was more of a badass, and they deny logic.
THAT'S AN HOUR OF COMEDY
