Yeah both those bands would be classed as melodic death metal; my personal favorite brand of death metal, along with Technical death metal (JFAC, Necrophagist etc) and progressive death metal (Meshuggah!!!!)

No. While I am known for having a really open taste with music, Death Metal for the most part is not my thing, I don't like it. The exception to the rule is Opeth, but only one or two of their slow songs (which I guess you can't consider to be Death Metal? Is it called Melodic Death Metal?).

I really don't listen to much straight-up death metal, but I do love me some Black Dahlia Murder. I'm really more of a fan of the deathcore. Bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Suicide Silence, Winds of Plague, Arsonists Get All The Girls, Job For A Cowboy.
