Just finished the game (Yeah, I crammed it in 3 days) and was wondering what the general consensus of the escapist was?

I personally loved it, even a bit more then the first game, and if skyrim wasn't come out I'd call Game of the year (Even then, Skyrim has some work cut out for it)

What about you guys what did you think?

Why or why not?

I'm enjoying myself so far. It's no game of the year material as far as I'm concerned. Stealth is mediocre at best. Movement around environments feels clunky and unintuitive. The best part of the game is the social portion. Good game, not great, but certainly above most titles.

I'm loving it. It isn't perfect. Then what is? Probably the second best new game I'll play this year after Frozen Synapse. (everyone is all excited about Squirm but the elder scrolls games have never worked for me)

I haven't been able to play nearly as much as I'd like to. I just got into Detroit, and am now doing some side quests.

But, what I have played has been quite enjoyable. I think it's definetly a good game, if not a great one. Can't wait to finish it!

A person would have to be nit picky to give this game a bad score. This coming from someone who hates first person shooters because when I tilt the camera down to look at the ground, I can't see my feet.

This game is good, anybody who says otherwise has not played it or never heard of it.

Its goddamn great. I just finished the game about an hour ago and as someone who fucking loves cyberpunked books I was amazed at Deus Ex:HR played exactly like how I'd imagine a cyberpunk book to unfold. Of course its not quite as lengthy or intuitive as some of my favorite cyber-stories but the sidequests, the ability to pick from 4 different core games concepts and choose exactly which one suits all your Deus needs at the moment and the pacing really makes up for it. If it wasn't for upcoming titles like Arkham City and Skyrim coming out this year I would say that Deus Ex:HR is easily the GOTY for 2011.

That said the only downside about this game was the handful of unavoidable boss fights that you couldn't hack, stealth or talk your way out of.
But besides that its practically ferfect.

I reaaally like it, properly fantastic at the moment, it feels basically the same as the original, which is fairly high praise, mind you. The only problem was that the controls lagged like crazy til I lowered the graphics settings.

Great...but not quite perfect. There's a few little things that bother me about it, but nothing that will keep me from enjoying it for a long time.

I'm currently about 20 hours into the game, and I'm loving it so far! I'm not sure about GOTY, but it's definitely a cut above a whole lot of recent games. My favorite thing about it is that you can tell that Eidos focused on what made the original good, and improved it. Not much mainstreaming, besides the cover system, but you don't realy need to use it anyway except for stealth.

I already beat it too, and I love it. The shooting aspect is pretty hard, so it forces you to play smart rather than just go guns blazing. I liked the stealth too, especially the sneak attacks. The atmosphere and music were awesome, it had kind of a Ghost in the Shell feel. Overall a great game. My only major complaints would be the load times and the boss fights. Seriously, if you let the player choose to be a hacker or stealthy, don't put in a boss fight.

Great game, but a few short coming keep me from labelling it GOTY (all the enviromment look the same, there's only two city hub) the story doesn't feel as complete as it should be but is still very sastifying and Jensen too much of a glass for it not to end up feeling a lot like trial and error

I'm loving it! Not many games which treat a story with respect and make it the focus. The art style is brilliant and the gameplay is more than solid.

It's pretty damn good, but I've found a lot of problems with the game. It's hardly perfect, but nothing is serious enough to get in the way of my enjoyment. I tend to be lenient towards flaws in games I like though, so perhaps I am a bad person to ask.

I went like...full stealth/hacker for 90% of the game. And I didn't mind that the boss fights were harder, because I chose to specialize in being a sneaky bastard. I shouldn't breeze through tough enemies when I've spent most of the game unlocking hacking and sneaking abilities.

That said, even as a stealth/hacker specialist, none of the boss fights were so difficult that I couldn't handle them. Actually, they were all quite enjoyable.

I enjoyed this game more than most, and it's the best I've played this year. This is a game that deserves high praise.
