Not paying for another Blizzard game until they rework their always-online policies.

I'm fine playing Path of Exile right now.

40 dollars? Isnt it an expansion?
Yep. Blizzard likes to charge that much for expansions nowadays, unless they're WoW related.

Sure thing, waiting for it.
Granted, D3 was slight disappointment at start, but they've been making it better, and now it's great.

I tried going back to D3 the other day, but having tried Path of Exile in the mean time, it's really hard to go back to a game with armour durability and individual potions - both of those things are immensely non-fun and really feel like they're just there to kick you when you're down ("hah, you died a bunch of times, and now you have to repair all your stuff and buy new potions from the vendor and then try to work out where the rest of your group got to while you were inventory managing").

It's a shame, I kind of wanted to get back into it - I'd felt disenfranchised with Blizzard for a while but Heart of the Swarm had really left me jonesing to play something of theirs again. I'll have to hold out for the Heroes of the Storm beta.

It might be worth it if you switch to consoles, as weird as it sounds. Seems like Blizzard devs have outdone themselves with this port control-wise. Add to that offline mode and couch co-op... If they release ROS bundled with console release, it might be worth it.

i'm waiting to see, if that dlc fixes every problem i can imagine, and goes for under 20$, if the always online part stays, then i'll pay 5$ at most, i'm not close to any of their servers, always online will always lag slightly

sad fact, i own diablo 3, and i have played diablo 2 more then diablo 3 in the time since diablo 3 came out...
i'm pretty close to blacklisting blizzard, like i do with EA, they only seem to make way overpriced shit now...

Only when it goes down in price. And knowing Blizzard, that will never happen. So no, I won't be getting it.

Wait... isn't Path of Exile always online as well for the same reason as Diablo (multiplayer/co cop) ?

Also OT yeah I might have a bash at it when it comes down in price or if they do a ps3/4 bundle since the controls are much tighter on console.

Nope, won't be buying it. I spent a lot of time playing Diablo 3. I took every class except Demon Hunter through Inferno, some of them prior to the difficulty nerfs. I had my SNS Wizard pretty ridiculously well-geared without the use of the RMAH and got it to Paragon 100. My overwhelming stance toward the game after leaving it? It's boring as fuck. The story is pathetic, the character builds are ridiculously cookie-cutter, the acts are practically copy/pasted from Diablo 2, the zones barely qualify as being randomized, the loot is mostly boring throw-away garbage not even really worth picking up (Legendary and set items included, sometimes!), and the gameplay itself has only gotten easier and easier and easier as time goes on.

Most of the time I spent playing Diablo 3 I was only barely paying attention to it. Typically I was watching movies or marathoning TV shows, or I had the game muted as I was listening to podcasts. Diablo 3 was less a fun pastime and more just something for me to do with my hands while occupied by other, better media.

So yeah... I'm pretty much done with it.

Yes, but Path of Exile doesn't ask you to pay for the privilege.

40$ for features that where ought to be in the original game and one extra act and character? - No thank you.
I'll only consider buying it after I'll have a chance to check its gameplay on youtube and when It'll drop down in price.

Unless they decide to completely redesign the entire loot system,
Fortunately, that's exactly what they're doing.

OT: Yep, I'm excited for it. It's one of the three things coming out in the February/March block next year that I've decided I'll definitely put the money down for.

Their excuses for keeping the always-online DRM are extremely flimsy, but who knows what the future holds. And worst comes to worst, I could always... eugh... get the console version, since it's DRM free. (Note that my response to getting the console version isn't because I believe it would be inferior, but because I feel like playing an isometric ARPG on a console would be strange no matter how much better it may be, and I simply prefer playing games on my PC and do it far more often than on my consoles.)

I waited until I could get Diablo 3 for under 20$. I enjoyed it although it felt short and not worth repeat playing. If I payed 60$+ I would have been disappointed for sure.

When I sprained my wrist badly and only had one hand to play with I was very happy to own Diablo 3 to distract me. Providing the DLC goes to 10-15$ in the next couple years or so I'll buy it.

Hell yes I'm gonna buy it. I loved D3 and haven't found anything else to scratch the ARPG itch (I hate TL2 and PoS PoE). Loot 2.0 sounds awesome and should fix my one pig complaint with D3.

Right there with you. The story is the main reason I play the Diablo series. I don't really care about the loot or anything like that. I love the lore and the universe that it is set in, and this expansion is showing some serious promise in terms of story. It will be interesting to hunt down an Arch Angel this time instead of a Prime or Lesser Evil.
I wonder when we go after Imperius....

I definitely plan to pick it up. I had a lot of fun with my first playthrough of Diablo 3. It was easy, but fun. What killed it for me was starting nightmare mode, when I started having to use the auction house. Improved loot system, more like it was in Diablo 2, and no auction house? Hell yeah, sign me up!

As the other guy said. Path of Exile is free to play, so like League of Legends, it's a game that's essentially based around being always online and multiplayer based because that's how it makes money. And thus there's no complaint from me when the servers are busy cause I spent zero dollars on it.

So yeah, the difference is that I'm not paying for a game that only sometimes works.
I would pay for Path of Exile (as short as it is), but I would expect it to work offline.
