I haven't played it myself, but I do wonder one thing. How moddable was C&C4 and 3? Because, and this is just random speculation, I have a sneaking suspicion that someone will try and recreate all the levels in C&C4 except for the C&C3 way of playing and then replace all the C&C4 levels with those. Again, it;s late and I'm just rambling but I would honestly say I'd be surprised if no lone modder was sitting alone in his room thinking to himself "dude, this sucks. You know what? I'm gonna fix this shit." and decided to check out how he could do so.

Again, just my tired ramblings.
As far as I know C&C 3 is very moddable and the Mod sdk for C&C 4 has not been released yet, so we'll have to see. But there are some pretty good mods for C&C 3 thats out already. eg Mideast crisis 2 I'd check out moddb if I were you

Funnily enough, I actually don't own C&C3 either. I was just interested because my brother has probably every C&C game and I really like mods.

In my opinion the quality of the command and conquer has gone down with ever increasing speed since the moment EA annexed Westwood. I had some fun with generals but dune, c&c and red alert became worthless games after the first, original, westwood editions.

The strange thing is that the westwood founders left to start Petroglyph wich in my opinion also makes worthless games. Star Wars: Empire At War had a multiplayer that didn't work at all. (I tried, i even edited the init files, it just couldn't be mended) Universe at War: Earth Assault was just plain awefull and after that i stopped playing their games as well.

My question is if any of the nostagic people reading this post might know where the good games have gone. There must be some indy desinger somewhere in this world making games like the original command and conquer games. Games that do work. There has to be?

I haven't played the game but I have played DOW2, are they basically the same?

'cos I was thinking of buying number 4 but if it's anything like DOW2 I won't bother that game is awful, it's like they wanted you to get to the best units as quickly as possible, so in four clicks (yes, I counted) you can have them.

It's also like ghost recon, telling your units were to go and hide behind cover.

Why do the devs treat us so badly?

I wouldn't think C&C4 as a exact copy of Dow2, just a really bad watered down version of it.
