This question has been boggling me all day, i really dont know if they did, because lets say today a zombie apocolypse was to break out what would happen, First it would be the fallout 3 build lil surival hut safe rooms which the games did have, you'd here gun shots screaming and helicopters all over the place. It really didnt have that, you'd see dead bodies of people and zombies all over the place, you'd find like pipe, wrenches, shotguns, pistols and such lying around on the floor while the guns were certanly present i dont think they made it good enough, like if the zombies did attack i'd take like a baseball bat cause i dont have a gun in my house. So you dont find any traces of outher people, like no dead zombies, You do sometimes hear one pistol shot but i'd expect like a whole barage of shots, and there are no paths with zombies lying on them, you'd think, that if there were all those survivors in the safe rooms you'd see dead zombies all around them and bullet shots. It is true that you saw the occasional dead person covered by a tarp but thats not much considering its a BLOODY ZOMBIE APOCOPLYSE, so i dont think valve did it as well as they could of as compared to say half life 2 because in half life2 when your fighting the zombies youll find dead head crabs and dead zombies as compared to left for dead where you see nothing and apperently olny 4 people own the city.

Now dont get me wrong i liked the game i just dont think they gave us the image of a zombie attack

THE POLL IS NOT WETHER THE GAME IS FUN OR NOT DO YOU THINK THEY MADE IT BELIVABE!

Yeah.
The lack of a narrative was kind of a let-down in discussions like this, but overall it did a good job.

....Ok.

Well... I guess you can't really tell, I havn't seen to many zombie apocalypses lately. I guess it's an OK depiction.

Why did you double post?

You know what they say,

"Foresight is always correct until proven otherwise."

...Ok, maybe they don't all say that, but they should.

The zombies are fast. Bad depiction.

Also, the lack of any other people/bodies/zombie corpses is a little interesting, but I just assume most people escaped before it got totally out of hand so they just managed to dodge the zombies and not need weapons.

Some games have fast zombies, some games don't(dead rising probably has the slowest)

I think that if 4 scrubs can defeat several hordes, even if they are immune, that an entire army would have a pretty easy time fighting the zombies.

I don't think 4 people could kill 2,000 zombies and make it out of a city alive...but the ambiance was great. From the psychotic ravings in safe houses, the way you have to run between oasis of sanity to survive, and the general sprinkling of undead with occasional hordes to keep you on your toes really did it for me. I think a real story could only have damaged the game. Sure, it would be interesting to run into the undeadified remains of someone's spouse or parents but ultimately the mixture of running around at a frenetic pace, keeping your ears peeled for the sounds of special undead, and always feeling like you're out of ammo and/or reloading is all the atmosphere I need.

Allow me to be the pedantic bastard who points out that its an infection, not a zombie apocalypse per se.

Anyway, I don't think it was believeable, because that was never the intention. I thought the film posters on the loading screens gave it away.

I thought it was pretty good. The only problem I had was that only after 2 weeks, building were already falling apart. It makes you wonder what happened. I think there was a parody of that somewhere.

I know they do, but the "standard" zombie depiction is slow moving; or at least was until everyone decided that fast zombies are better for some reason. I prefer the classical version of shamblers, but that would be hard to implement into a multiplayer game like Left 4 Dead as the whole challenge comes from escaping. Maybe if there was next to no ammo and still the special ones it would work.

Would be nice if it were a bit like WoW in that a group of more than 4 people could barricade themselves in a shopping mall and defend it similar to capture the flag. Could be capture the brains.

I don't understand how slow zombies can be scary...They slow! You can just outrun them!

Slow Zombies are not scary. A horde of slow ass zombies in which you can just walk away doesn't give any feeling of fright. Now a horde of super fast zombies is scary cause they can actually catch you.

Slow Zombies suck bring in the fast ones!

Nope. The zombies are more like 28 Days/Weeks Later zombies. Real zombies don't die from body shots, they can only be killed by destroying the brain. Plus, zombies stumble, not run.

People think they can just outrun zombies when they are the slow type. Yes that maybe true but we are talking about a zombie apocalypse. That means there are more zombies than survivors, and while you outran one zombie your chances of running into another group of zombies is very high. How long do you think you can keep outrunning from the zombies before you have to sleep, eat? You will tireout and soon you can only walk as fast as those zombies. Then you get even more tired and can't even walk faster than the slow zombie and say goodbye to your brains.
This. Plus, classical zombies (read-in: slow) need to have their head destroyed or removed to be killed. Even if you're an incredible shot and never miss shooting them in the head, how many bullets do you have/can you find? Plus food, sleep, and hopefully finding other people. Then there's aging and sickness and injury.
