Uh the TERA ads going round the Internet look really bad. I don't even understand how someone such as myself who loves 99% of anime-esque art styles can find it to be such an eyesore. (the 1% being the kind of manga that looks like they just sketched it out in pencil then decided to just publish it without any bold lines or anything. Lucky most of that stuff is confined to the shoujo mangas I suppose XP)

Then again it looks like a MMORPG and I don't have the time of one of those anyway.

Oh and CoD games for their lack of any aesthetic besides make it as "realistic" as possible. They need an engine change as well, what are they still on the WaW/CoD4 engine? I don't even care about graphics and I think it looks unpolished as fuck.

Plus y'know Activision are just complete dicks, at least EA actually publishes interesting games rather regularly. Activision are just remaking everything they can get their hands on and sticking a number on the end.

Also Witcher 2, oh my god the Grimdark, it's fucking everywhere and it won't shut the fuck up!

And ICO, the signature blurriness of the PS2 clashes with ICO's aesthetic really badly in my opinion. Sort of a weird reason to drop a game because of I think.

I keep hearing something about a change in visual style for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (no, I'm not talking about Wind Waker), but, I honestly don't get what the big deal is about that. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts' visual style isn't my biggest issue with it, but, Rareware's "logic" in it was beyond stupid.

I also thought the visual style in Rayman 2 looked absolutely horrible, but, I pressed on, and thoroughly-enjoyed it.

Also, Nuts & Bolts didn't give me nearly as much of a reaction as this...

Thank you, Insomniac for changing it back to the tradition style, in the end! Also, the gall to say "We just want to go back to the way things were", when you've had nothing but major titles, and this one changes the formula completely!

Yeah. Team Fortress 2 is such a faggy fucking shooter. Who the fuck puts cartoon graphix in a video game? It's meant to be realistic like CoD and Battlefield. Keep that kiddy shit outta my games.

/jk jk do not murder me i love me sum tf2
To break away from the norm. It was supposed to be cheerful. I love it for that. It plays a lot more like Doom than Call of Duty, anyway.

Exactly. The reason they went with it was they insisted that this was what he "always" looked like. That everything "always" looked "blocky" on the Nintendo 64. That is crap. The graphics were rough, not blocky. Banjo's nose was never a giant box. Heck, there were even gobs of renders and the like. And what about the box art, ehh? Also, Conker was using the exact same visual style. Wouldn't that entail that he should be blocky, too? Plus, his first title was on the GameBoy Color!

i can't say for sure but art style obviously will influence my decision on getting a game, but it won't do so alone.

Yes, Gears of War. I'm not trying to be elitist, I think CoD and Battlefield are all decent fun (just not pushing the label in any way). But I really don't like the idea of the future being grizzled thick-necked Americans running down gritty corridors, shooting gritty aliens with gritty guns. I'm okay with a game being dirty and unsettling, but I feel like in Gears of War they just took a generic sci-fi military game and tossed a grit-filter over it because that's popular with the kids.

For the same reason I don't play anything related to Warhammer. I actually really like the art designs of some of it's units, and I understand it came first and influenced a lot of games. But when I actually play any games related to it, it feels like Warcraft without a sense of humor, written by a teenager.

Nope.

I couldn't care less what the game's art design is, if it doesn't look fun or the story isn't interesting then I can't be bothered to get it.
