I wrote an unfavorable article about the PSP when the system was announced in May (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.116482#2179332). That being said, I was wondering who on this site might have purchased one.

I was never fond of handhelds anyway, i find my time away from home a time to not play games and acually live my life. So no i wont get one and won't ever get one, unless its for free of course because then i can sell it.

No.

Mainly because it looks too clumsy to me. Plus I like being able to play my games on the UMD, call me old fashioned but it feels better to me when I slip in a game disc/cartridge.

I would only buy this if there were decent games out on it that were only on the psp go and not the 3000 which there will never be, unless sony goes into a console war with itself

Nope

Got a PSP-3000 a couple months ago so I can buy used UMD games and download new stuff if I so desire, kinda seemed like the best of both worlds for only $100 cheaper.

I know this poll is early but I don't see how Sony can claim the system has been a success so far with these kinds of numbers. The argument is that PSP sales are up 100% this week over last (at least in the UK). Of course 100% increase from 1 is 2.

The PSP 3000 was pretty crappy, and the PSPGo is the exact same thing except Sony has the ability to price games at whatever the hell they want. So... no.

Could you imagine if Nintendo made another game console at the time of the NES, it was a carbon copy of the EXACT same system, but it couldn't run any of the old games? No technological upgrade to justify it, no promise of new content, just NES, but with a different cartridge receptor.

That would have been a terrible idea, and Nintendo would have fired the guy who came up with it.

Same situation here, except Sony actually went ahead and marketed it. What a load.

I wonder if they did fire the guy who came up with it?

Edit: Wait, missed the "can't run any of the old games". Missed that.

No, but I'd get a PSP 3000 if there weren't so many goddamn console games coming out over the next two months.

I hate the idea of the Go, but I like the idea of the PSP.

Definitely not- I still have my original PSP from some years back that I still love. I have no intention of replacing it any time soon- and if I do, it probably won't be with the Go.

Hell no.

It's doomed to fail.

Making digital distribution the only means of buying games is the dumbest idea ever. Valve, the company that made digital distribution what it is today in the gaming world, still release hard copies of their games, even the ones for PC.

Without hard copies of games, retailers aren't going to be making any cash, and who is the biggest seller of consoles? that's right, games retailers. There are multiple retailers that are refusing to sell PSPGo, as they will not make any money at all from games sales.

With lack of support from retailers, the PSPGo will not succeed. Even if retailers sell prepaid digital money cards, the fact is that would eliminate the point of digital distributed games. Most people who want downloaded games are usually going to pay by credit/debit card.

There's also the games collectors among us. Many of us have that little niggling feeling in the back of our minds that make us want our games on some physical format, boxed with artwork and manual and such, and the PSPGo gets rid of that part of the market, which sad to say, is a hell of a lot of people, myself included.

No, I haven't bought one, but I have been planning on getting a PSP for a while now and the Go does seem tantalizing.

I haven't bought one and I probably never will. I haven't had a handheld since the GBA. I would rather get a normal PSP instead anyway... or a DS.

No, the one I have now works just fine and as long as I can play Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, then I'm happy.
