Don't diss the top-loader! That thing's awesome.Najos said:Edit: Wait, missed the "can't run any of the old games". Missed that.
Autovon said:I might get one when the price drops quite a bit. I hate having to carry around multiple discs and love that it comes with a pretty big hard drive but its just too damn expensive.
And they took out swappable batteries. The battery it comes with is all you get. And you can't change itSnotnarok said:Absolutely not, I bought the 1000 model (as in the jap model) and then I got a 2000 for video out+other features. The PSPGo is an overpriced unit with features tweaked/removed so you can spend more money. I have 17 games, I'm not going to rebuy them for a new unit.
I really have no idea why they dropped UMD support for this new PSP (other than cutting out used game stores) but I'm not supporting their PSP.
Edit:
The features they swapped and removed were
UMD Drive
All of the inputs are changed including the power in
It doesn't accept Memorystick Pro Duo anymore
So basically you'd be forced to rebuy EVERYTHING including your games, I'm reminded of the Atari 5200 going down in flames for changing everything and having no backwards compatibility as well.
What the hell? Dood, does this list get any longer? They've totally screwed themselves with the PSPGo, no one in their right mind who currently owns a PSP is going to buy their newest iteration. The PSP2000 was a big improvement I'll admit, I love the video out and some other quirks but they did not think this through. I had thought about getting it till I heard about the lack of UMD drive, that alone sunk it for me then heard about nothing being compatible with the stupid thing and I now hate it.MecaEcco said:And they took out swappable batteries. Well I've played on one and I gotta tell you. It's really cramptastic. I don't think I have particularly big hands but after 20 minutes I had to stop because of hand cramping. It's very awkward- especially if you are using the analog nub.Snotnarok said:What the hell? Dood, does this list get any longer? Oh well, I'll just have to stick with my old outdated UMD using PSP with 17 games you know?MecaEcco said:Well I've played on one and I gotta tell you. It's really cramptastic. I'm not happy with any of the companies pulling this crap. Nintendo is doing it with DS games that utilize DSi specific features or levels that can only be played if you are using a DSi (an example of this is the new EA cooking game that gives you ten more recipes if you have a DSi rather than a DS lite). This is a slippery slope. I'm also a little pissed off that I have a release day 360 with no HDMI port and a 20 gb hard drive that is out of room and a $600 ps3 that has no rumble controller an also too small hard drive at 60 gigs and came with no games. This whole generation has taught me to stop buying release day systems due to the upgrades and 1.5 versions of systems. Although in Sony's case the systems tend to get worse...as is the case with the loss of backwards compatibility in the PS3 and the PSP go's numerous problems.Snotnarok said:Oh well, I'll just have to stick with my old outdated UMD using PSP with 17 games you know?MecaEcco said:Well I've played on one and I gotta tell you. But seriously I dunno where you stand on it but it annoys me that Sony is trying to change format "mid console". But it's fine as long as they keep putting out UMD games for my ol' PSP 2001.
I'm inclined to agree with a lot of this, some people are excited about the DSi and I think it's a steaming pile of crap, (I've got a DSLite before someone calls me out on that) and I didn't buy their handheld for cameras and whatever, I got it to play their games. Now they're tossing out another handheld and just like sony claiming "it's a side release games will be out on both systems, not meant to replace anything" yet your shoving features and games on the other one and charging extra meanwhile half the features aren't compatible.MecaEcco said:I'm not happy with any of the companies pulling this crap.
