Personally I thought it was an engaging, enjoyable game. Was it the greatest game of all time? Certainly not, but what it is is an incredibly fun FPS with a mystery twist added to the series' formula.

Oh my god...
A ODST thread that isn't bashing Halo...
I'm in shock...

OT: I have yet to play it, but from what I've seen and heard, it seems to be an all right shooter. I'll probably pick it up around Christmas.

I enjoyed it, but at 5 and half hours (on legendary/coop), I'm kinda glad it was my brother who bought it.

It was one hell of a ride, just too damn short for $60.

EDIT:

I could've sworn you were that super troll incognito.

OP: I always thought Halo was just meh but ODST seems like what Halo should have been all along (I have yet to play it).

My xbox died a week after my brother preordered it. Good news is that I should get a new one soon.

Maybe you should have used the present tense in your title for people who don't have tons of free time to play the game through to the end. And yes I like it so far.

I am really enjoying it so far. I love the re-introduction of medipacks into an fps. And i love running round with the suppressed smg. Its almost useless on legendary but its still fun.
I was a little dissapointed with the pistol though. I thought it would be stronger. Now if you will excuse me, i still need to finish the campaign. What? its hard doing it on legendary by your lonesome

Well, I didn't vote, because there wasn't an option for just ODST, but for all Halo games.

Yes, I enjoy the Halo series. That's not what the thread is about.

Yes, i enjoyed ODST. While I enjoyed it, I still found it to be the least interesting out of the Halo games. The story was kind of a let-down, especially near the end and the end. I beat it in four hours on Heroic, 2 player co op. I liked the idea of an open-world Halo deal, but felt it wasn't executed well enough in ODST. Still too many restrictions. Plus they ripped off more dedicated fans by packaging all of Halo 3 MP maps and charging 60 bones for it. I would've bought it if I could've gotten the campaign alone.

i guess my vote would be the opposite of the third option.

I don't like Halo games never have never will plain and simple, I prefer games with a bit more thinking involved like Battlefield 2

ODST is a welcome installment.i hope halo reach has a firefight multi/single player as well.i also hope a firefight system will be a buyable upgrade to halo 3 so no one can complain about it anymore.and being able to put on skulls you got in halo 3 on ODST is cool.but no customizeable armor is a very small let down but still it is an acceptable loss.I love this game

I liked it. I found the story to be enthralling, the gameplay to be good, and firefight to be very, very fun.

It's not a big deal, really, since you usually don't have time in ODST to observe armors, and seeing as how they are supposed to be a team of ODST, it only makes sense that they wear ODST armor.
Yes. The ODST is a regular soldier, and as such, he wouldn't be able to customize his armor to his liking, like the Spartans can. Also, they don't need much of a distinction, as all of the ODST look different, where as most of the Spartans shaved their heads and are incredibly muscular.

I'm not a troll. I'm a Halo fan who wanted an ODST thread on here that wasn't trolltacular. Believe me, if I were a troll I'd have made my point by now.

If you want me to bash ODST, then fine. Here come the nitpicks.

I didn't like the title. Somehow Halo: Recon had a much better ring to it than ODST, which nobody who hasn't read the books will get. If they wanted to avoid the noob overflow of "I CAN HAZ RECON?!!!1" they could have easily gone with Halo: Helljumper or Halo: Mombasa.

And am I the only one who finds it incredibly frustrating that you can't get out of the map screen with the start button? I automatically hit that to get out of that because of my built-in game-menu-navigating instincts generally tell you that hitting the start button will bring you in and out of a menu, but no, even when you unpause it'll go back to the map.

And the campaign is pretty short, but it makes up for that in the price tag with all the Halo multiplayer maps and Firefight. And finally being able to play as my favorite character, Sgt. Avery "Hey, Bastards, Knock-Knock" Johnson.

I enjoyed it, even though the story was weak, the voice over for my country sucked during cutscenes*, there wasn't enough in the city to make it worth exploring, and it was too easy on heroic...
(i usually felt like a spartan in mjölnir 5 armor, not like a mortal little human soldier...i know, there SpecOps, but still :/ )

But i really love the ODST equipment - the pistol is just plain fun@sniping&instakilling grunts'n'jackals , and since i bought 'the art of halo', i always hoped that they would implemend a silenced smg (it's just awesome... and it was originally designed for halo 2)

Overall, ODST was a really good game, it won't set the world on fire, but it's worth it's price

Maybe i'm gonna write a review about the whole halo series...

*strangely it was a bit above average during the gameplay parts...
but halo always had a bad voice over in germany, so i expected that
example:
intro from odst->
http://www.4players.de/4players.php/tvplayer/4PlayersTV/Alle/13788/42013/Halo_3_ODST/Ersten_zehn_Minuten.html

i know you won't understand a thing, but i think you can hear that they aren't talking fluently with each other. they clearly didn't know the context of their scripts..
