Absolutely. I own every Halo game, excluding Wars, which doesn't count, and I've read all the books. It's one of my favourite series, probably only surpassed by Mass Effect and Fallout.

Absolutely. Very solid gameplay, a great story with memorable characters, and fun multiplayer.

The end of the series though? Not a chance. There is actually plenty left to explore within the Halo mythos but I only hope that MS doesn't destroy it with shoddy titles and/or bludgeoning us with too many more games in the series.

i greatly enjoyed this series for its great characters, its well written story (and im adding books too because they are also good) and the fact that these games always have something fun for me to do. with the mix of forge and custom games, the possibilities are endless. and i love how bungie isn't giving us crap after crap. they are trying their hardest to 1 p themselves for better user experience.

and i hope 343 industries keeps up the good work with the intellectual property.

Meh, it's alright. The campaign is pretty basic, the story is atrocious with the exception of Reach, but the gameplay is tight and relatively fun. I don't hate it, but I would never would say that I loved it.

No. In all honesty, no. I cannot think of a game series I have enjoyed less. It just left me cold.

Ehhh... sorta.

I enjoyed the first one. Halo 3 and Reach were playable.

As a series I suppose the best thing I could say is, "I didn't not enjoy them."

Its one of the few games that all three of my closest friends could enjoy together. Ahhh, we had some good times on Halo 3 alone. My wish is that Reach was a little better, but you can't have everything.

I'm not a fan of Halo and I don't really like playing it too much anymore.

But it has a place in my memory because one of the last things I did with my cousin was a Halo 2 co-op all nighter. We kind of lost contact after that.

I played Halo 3, but got bored pretty quick. It was an ok game, but I didn't feel it lived up to the hype for me. I just prefer more realistic (and I use realistic very loosely) shooters.

If I still had my Xbox, I doubt I'd buy Reach. I'm not anti-Halo. I just don't really care about it.

Wow what a franchise eh?
Something me and my friends grew up with.
Overrated or not nobody can deny the significant advancements it has made in it's genre.

If Reach is indeed the last true Halo game from Bungie then i guess that's it for the series?

Did you enjoy it?

I certainly did. Not one of my top favourites but I still like the games.

EDIT: I meant to also say the series as a whole. Each individual game might have its flaws, but i'm wondering if you enjoyed the series as a whole.
It's not the end of the series. Though Bungie was the developer, and responsible for much of the story, the overall plot (including all the backstory stuff from the other media, like books and the anime) is subject to approval and such from Microsoft Game Studios as well. Since Microsoft are therefore in charge overall, they've created a new studio, 343 Studios, to continue the franchise both in games and other media, effectively replacing Bungie after Bungie called it quits. Anyway, the 343 Studios team has basically said they'll try and stay true to what Bungie did, so we don't need to worry about them messing up canon or anything in any future games, and I'm glad, personally, because I definitely don't want to see the franchise end just yet. And Microsoft certainly aren't 'milking it', whatever the haters say, at least no more than other franchises that never get called out for the amount of media and games they put out (things like Mario, Final Fantasy, Sonic, Street Fighter, Gran Turismo, etc...).

In case t wasn't obvious from that, I'm something of a Halo fanboy, though I'm smart enough too to realise when something is bad in the series and to accept that regardless. And thus to answer the original question, yes, I enjoyed the Halo series greatly, and still do :).
Thanks for the clarification! I actually wasn't entirely sure IF Reach was indeed the final game. I just read somewhere that it was the last game Bungie was doing that involved Halo.

Silly of me to assume that M$ would let a franchise like that go to rest. =P

Halo has remained a fun series for many years, however, my favorites remain Halo 1 and 2. These games focused much more on campaign and story than anything else, plus they were quite revolutionary at the time. The others ones began losing my interest, as they began focusing way to much of multiplayer, but left their campaign soulless. The multiplayer tended to fail anyway, seeing as it was always shadowed by the popularity of Call of Duty.

The first 2 games of the series were instant classics. 2 of the best games ever made, in my opinion. After Halo 2 though, things went downhill fairly quickly. Halo 3 was mediocre, Halo: ODST was below average, and Reach was again mediocre.

I still say Microsoft should release an HD remake of Halo 2. I'd gladly pay $60 to be able to quad-shot noobs on Xbox Live again.

its one of those social things that needs to be enjoyed with friends especially when you are all in the same room yelling at each other.

Campaign has fluctuated and was really what put console fps on the map along with xbl

Short answer, yes. Long answer, it's always been my "go to" series. If I ever got pissed off at a game of CoD (happened far too often) there was always Halo sitting there waiting to return the smile to my face.

I loved the series, especially the story. I like it for practically opposite reasons to most people though, I LOVED the flood sections.
