As an open and unrepentent Bioware fanboy: LOVED IT. Even though the story was complete shit compared to ME1. But it did give us one of my favorite memes: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/931488.

Need more options in the poll. I didn't hate it, but it's not on my top ten. There are a lot of things about the game I don't like, but it's still moderately enjoyable.

It's probably one of my favorite games of all time, definitely my favorite RPG. I can't even go back to the first one after playing this.

Yeah, it was a pretty nice story-driven shooter. As an RPG it's kinda lacking and not all that deep.

The combat and graphics were definitely better, but I think they really dropped the ball on the story. Cerberus, the Illusive Man, the Collectors, Harbinger...it was all very silly and didn't advance the overarching plot at all. The tone of the game just felt less intelligent. The first game took its universe and science fiction elements very seriously, but the second one was more interested in adding glowy bits to everything and giving you a backpack that fired nuclear bombs.

So while it's definitely more fun than Mass Effect 1, I'd say that Mass Effect 1 is still the better game.

Mass Effect 2 is actually one of my favorite games of all time. It's not perfect but it's pretty damn close and the pros vastly outweigh the cons. I think the thing with Mass Effect 2, and likely Dragon Age 2 as well though I haven't played it for myself yet, is that the people that disliked certain aspects are much louder than the people who just enjoyed the entire experience.

Second favorite game, even though it is incredibly flawed in ways people never talk about, like the CoD-esque quality plotline, stereotypical characters, and terribly wrong atmosphere. However, this is with the Lair of the Shadowbroker DLC included. Otherwise, it would be maybe #4.

I have to say who ever did not like Mass Effect 2 should not be playing RPGs or Bioware games...
I have to say whoever liked ME2 as an RPG shouldnt be playing them, as they are fucking killing the genre.

Just admit its a shallow action game.

Are people really so in denial that they cannot recognise the fundamental differences to past Bioware games? Like how EVERY FUCKING AREA is just a cheap box filled corridor with a shitty mission complete screen when you complete it?

There is no debate, no opinions here. That is SHIT game design, period. Doubly when you look at how the much larger galaxy of ME1 flowed so much better.

Its like the basis of ME2s gameworld is the same crap they pulled with the uncharted worlds in ME1 only slightly different.Say for example instead of dropping in the mako and exploring vast but barren landscapes that becomes tedious, you are teleported into small, linear box filled corridors and forced to shoot everyone in them, which also becomes tedious.

The fact that most of the "story" was written as a checklist to accomodate this, and is just one disconnected mission after the other makes it much worse.

Its a shame because all they had to do was not care about dumbed down TPS combat so much, and spread their efforts around a little more, and the game would have been improved immeasurably for it.

Still if they arent prepared to do that in ME3, and just repeat ME2 Im definitely not buying it.
