Why else buy a game if you're not going to use half of the content? Besides, I completely agree with Yahtzee that all fully priced games should come with an at least decent single player. That way if the mutliplayer gets abandoned (Deadrising 2) or becomes insufferable because of the fanbase (Halo in my opinion) there is still something to fall back on.

CoD is no exception, especially since prolonged exposure to campers, tubers, and all other dicks that inhabit that area of cyber space is harmful to all breakable objects in my immediate vicinity.

I usually exercise self control and play the Single Player first.

Most of the time I beat it before I even start the Multiplayer.

Black Ops was an exception because the moment I started it I realized that it was gonna be a lot like World at War and I immediately dropped it for a good week. Honestly guys, I don't know how some of you thought that WaW was an actual good Singleplayer.

CoD4 has been the best, because it wasn't really restrained by multiplayer like Modern Warfare 2 was.

Putting on Slow Motion Legitimately made it feel like a brand new game.

Single Player is the only reason I play cod. It's like watching an interactive 4-6 hour action movie!

I always play through the single-player (or at least a fair amount of it) before getting into multiplayer. Mostly for the fact that I like single player games, partly for practice.

But yes, despite the fact that I only own a few (I bought 2 and 3 as well as WaW and Black Ops) I've played through the single-player on each. Heck, Black Ops is the only one yet where I've significantly played the multiplayer.

I honestly regret playing the Black Ops single player campaign.
No Call of Duty campaign will ever be as good as Call of Duty 4.
this would be me, except Call of Duty 2 instead of 4

every Call of Duty game I ever bought was mainly for the SinglePlayer, THEN the MultiPlayer

Nope.

I loathe the multiplayer. I've only played it for the single player which is steadily becoming worse and worse.

Because the single player is crap?

We buy lots of things that are half crap, that doesn't mean we have to consume it just to "get our money's worth". I think I felt WORSE after playing Blops' single player it was so awful.

Yes, CoD SHOULD have a good single player but undeniably for the last one it did not.

And yet it was the "biggest entertainment launch... ever" that was built off the back of the multiplayer. The plot wasn't even relevant, it wasn't a sequel continuing the story of MW2 nor anything. It effectively IS a multiplayer only game for the large part of its success.

And is that a problem? TF2, L4D, ARMA and Killing Floor do great with no real single-player mode. Though coming off the back of Bioshock I sure do miss that more games don't have a really focused and great multiplayer.

PS: I play Black-ops on PC, haven't seen much blatant camping/tubers. Lots of FAMAS though.

I played single-player a bit, haven't finished it, no plans to play multiplayer ever. So far what I've played is pretty good.

I beat the game on Veteran before jumping into multiplayer. It's tradition. They're pretty fun. The Russian campaigns have always been my favorite. Especially in the first one. In order, it's 1, WaW, UO, 2. I can still recite that speech from the first level in Stalingrad verbatim. Best level ever in the Call of Duty franchise followed by the sniper level in WaW.

I always play the single player campaign before I even touch the multiplayer. With MW2 and Black-ops I played it twice before the multiplayer. I really liked them.

COD's singleplayer is definitely more fun than most FPS's singleplayer so I really don't see why people would skip it

Call of Duty 1 and 2's singleplayer was the meat of the game. If you weren't praying to any God you can think of as all Hell broke loose as you were slowly overrun only for the cavalry to arrive at the last possible second then you were barreling towards German tanks in a massive armor rush at the gun of British Crusader. The battles were intense from beginning to end and the AI was smart enough to know what to do with itself so that you felt as though you were a part of a mission. Multiplayer was passable and was there for anyone wanting to best human opponents. Now the focus is Multiplayer while singleplayer has become this annoying useless addition that is a yawn fest from beginning to end and really has no entertainment value whatsoever. The battles feel pretty much all the same and the AI feels like you have bunch of armed tourist wandering about behind you.

On the bright side CoD?s multiplayer is thought out and truly carving its own niche, but it?s no longer the franchise I once loved. I never played any CoD for the multiplayer, because I have Counter Strike: Source.

I always play the sigle player first and then go play multiplayer.

*I have yet to play CoD 1 or 2, but CoD 3 I liked because it had Canadians and Polish.
*CoD 4 I loved because...yeah it was CoD 4's single player.
*CoD: WAW I liked because it's the only CoD game to ever portray the Pacific and I also enjoyed the Eastern front missions too.
*MW2 was fun because I like to compare to some Arnie b-movie action film, and nothing else.
*Black Ops was pretty horrible though, the constant flashbacks were annoying, there were waaaaay too many cutscenes that took away from gameplay (I don't care about your dad playing music Reznov!) and none of the characters were anywhere near as interesting as previous games and it just wasn't as memorable. The only mission I really liked was "Numbers" because it reminded me of John Woo action flicks and featured a kinda cameo appearence of Guan Yu, and Vorkuta for the pick-axe scene and the Terminator 2 section.
