Because most of these critics have never bought a superman comic let alone know that almost of his enemies could beat him in a fist fight.
All these guys are credible threats that can stand up to Superman. The only exception is Lex Luthor, but he always cheats and uses Kryptonite. The whole "Superman is OP" thing is just not true.
IMO its just because of the over saturation of batman. These people don't realise that the DC universe is full of things that could kill superman, things that wouldn't even register Batman as a threat. In Batman's comics his enemies are intelligent and unpleasant men. Some like Bane and killer Croc can break through a brick wall. Superman, Wonderwoman, Dr Fate lets not even talk about the Spectre. All fight enemies that could destroy the world.
Superman isn't OP. Batman in underpowered. And Sadly he is the standard by which everyone (who's never read a comic) judges super heroes. I'm not sorry if I sound like an elitist nerd. I'm sick of all these people who've seen the dark knight rises and all the Disney Avengers stuff and decided superman is shit. Superman even started this horrible mainstream super hero film obsession back in the 70's.
The problem as I said is that because we have this way of thinking for Superman, of how much powerful Superman is in comparison with others, make him not an interesting characters.
True to be told as you said there are far more bigger forces more powerful than Superman. The same goes in Marvel Universe with the Robot like gods which they can with only one glance to destroy worlds.
But because of this, most of the comics of Superman is focus in "power versus power". Or to be more specific with many other Superheroes Comics, "a power suitable to create difficulties for our heroes". That why at some points we have villains which are PERFECT in the first encounters with the heroes to win the first fight or at least fight until the comic end.
With this pattern above, it don't give the suitable reason to the readers care so much about the adventures of the heroes: because they are doing the same boring thing over and over again.
Did you saw the patterns in the first Season of Flash [I saw only the first season]? Villain appeared, Flash go to stop him, Flash fail, Flash trying to find a solution with the other, villain appeared again, Flash go again, Flash WINS!!!!!
Repeat.
Well, I get bored. It was annoying to predict in nearly every single episode this kind of "exciting" writing...
Because I wrote a lot and I don't like that normally [I like to be very simple], here is a solution for me:
Show Superman with stories with clever/interesting writing. As I said a good example is a crossover with Superman and Shazam:

THIS comic is good one!!! A comic which make me care about Superman. It is about the relationship of Superman with Shazam. It is not once again about fighting!!!
