*scratches head* I'm a bit confused by the topic title. Isn't wanting to love a game the only way you can get disappointed by it? You can't really be disappointed by a game you had zero interest in to begin with, now can you?

I stand corrected, nice call Xzi, I had forgotten about the healing mod. I understand the combat is faster/harder, but what about on easy? Is there still a challenge when your shield and heath recharge that quickly?
There is still a moderate challenge on Novice difficulty. Mass Effect 2 is MUCH (MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH) more difficult than ME1. The enemies are smarter, tougher, and do quite a bit more damage than even Insanity enemies from the first game. I played through on Normal as a Vanguard and died at least 30 times throughout the game. I consider myself a good shooter player too.

I liked most of the changes in ME2. The combat is a ton more interesting than it was in ME1. The Mako sections are gone, which is a blessing. I miss the inventory from ME1, but at the same time I remember what a goddamn headache it was. Maybe instead of removing it (and all of the interesting item drops, while they were at it) they should have simply reduced the number of items you got per mission and added a 'Sort' feature to it. I kinda miss the huge skill trees from the first game as well, it's a lot less interesting when you hit level 25 and it takes 4 levels to gain a single new ability rank.

The only thing I will say that GREATLY disappoints me is the forced planet scanning in ME2. Seriously, who played this and thought it was fun? Nobody.

What if they kept the formulae exactly the same? Would you not feel... I don't know, repetetiveness in the game?

Bioware want to try out something new with the game, all changes are welcome and are brought so that you can tweak your strategy while still having an inthralling and fantastic time with the game, which I'm sure, if you gave it an open, mind, you will have.
