Alright, both come out next Tuesday. I'm getting both eventually, but I'd rather just get one for now. I'm completely torn. I'm totally psyched for both, but they're so different it's hard to tell which one I'd be happier buying first.

If you had to choose (most of you probably do), which one would you pick? Which one do you think will be worth the $60?

EDIT: After much thinking, I'm getting Dishonored tomorrow. Still getting XCOM later though :). Thanks for the feedback everyone, I really appreciate it.

I'd get Xcom first, dishonoured later.

Partly because Xcom's most likely the longer game and partly because I'm less confident that Dishonoured will be great compared to Xcom.

Of course I'm also a huge strategy buff so my opinion may not be entirely unbiased.

I preordered XCOM (no! That awesome alien hat for the Pyro had nothing to do with it! .. <<)

But "apples and oranges" was coined for things like this. I love strategy games and get a ton of mileage out of them. Dishonored has potential. If I hear it isn't too easy (my big fear for it), I may pick it up down the line.

But get whatever you feel most like playing. They are so different that it's hard to believe you have no preference.

X-Com is the remake of one of my top 5 games of all time.

Dishonored is a neat looking shooter thing from relatively unproven studio.

This one isn't even close for me, but I'll be keeping an eye on Dishonored.

Having such fond memories of the original Xcom....I'll get that first. Followed by either Dishonored or Borderlands 2. I'm still working on a backlog of games from the steam summer sale though so who knows when I'll get any of them.

I believe XCom to be the more certain success in this case. Not only does it seem to be well-crafted, it also seems to have quite some replay value. Dishonored on the other hand feels kind of hit or miss to me, it might be a GOTY-prospect or it might be yet another mediocre game with some good ideas being overhyped and underperforming.

I'm getting both but if I *had* to pick one then Xcom, the 40 hour hands on that RockPaperShotgun had just has me pumped for it.

XCOM

1) It's a kind of game I like, and wish there were more of.
2) The people who make it seem to genuinely enjoy it and want others to as well
3) As a PS3 owner I have zero faith that dishonored won't be a horrid, buggy, unsupported POS port from my good friends at bethesda.

First of all, I love your avatar, made me chuckle. To answer your question I would say that if you are going to buy them on steam (can you even get them anywhere else?) you should go with X-com now and Dishonored later simply because X-com has much better preorder rewards (3 TF2 items, ingame unit customization and a free copy of Civ V)

A lot of people seem to be making this mistake. Dishonored aint being made by bethesda, only published.

I've never played the original X-COM or any of the originals for that matter. But I decided to test out the demo and enjoyed it so I decided that over Dishonored in the end. Also TF2 alien hat had NO bearing on my purchase WHATSOEVER *coughcough* Anyways I'm excited for it cause its something new and looks enjoyable.

I've got XCOM already pre-ordered.

But I do have my eye on Dishonored, because I love Arkane Studio's work with Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah. I'll wait to see how it turns out after release though.

XCOM is more the sort of game I 'want' right now though.

Both fantastic looking games, no doubt, but if it's going to be one or the other then it's gotta be Dishonored. We've had umpteen trillion Xcom clones over the last decade but only a handful of immersive sims.

I do plan on picking up both though.

Never played the original XCOM. Never heard of it until these past few months. Not looking for the next generic alien shootemup. Don't care that much for strategy games. This is why I can't get into LoL.

I like Arcane Stuidos' work. I love Steampunk settings. I love stealth when it is done properly. I love having choices in the way of how to utilize my skills.
