I've only recently started playing DMC 4 so I can only now compare these two games a bit. And frankly, I like what I'm seeing in this prequel. The combat looks awesome, the aesthetics look good, the animations look good, you name it. Dante's attitude does feel a little forced, with all the "fuck you!"'s going around, but other than that I don't mind what I'm seeing.

No, it doesn't. His mother was a human woman who a demon fell in love with, which was unprecedented in and of itself. In fact, there aren't any angels to begin with. Just angelic looking demons. Which makes Dante half demon and half demon. Which makes him a demon. You know what, why in the hell would a half angel half demon guy even look human? Sparda naturally didn't look human, and "angels" have wings, so he'd probably look quite odd.

Having just watched the trailer and demo in those links Ill share my initial thoughts. Who is this guy? I ask because he sure doesnt seem like Dante. Still I think my first question stands. Who is this guy? If it looks like Dante, sounds like Dante, and feels like Dante then its Dante but so far as I know they guys struck out twice with look and sound.
Never played DmC, and I have little idea over what all this is about, but from the sound of things for the same reason there are people who say "Han Shot First!" - people actually care about characters in their stories.
If God of War turned Kratos into a teenage nerd with superpowers, its guaranteed that that would piss a lot of people off. So what the gameplay is the exact same, they've screwed over the character, and in doing so broken some of the themes of the game.

Why the Hatred? That's simple. People are too attached to meaningless details. They think that cosmetic appearances are the only thing that matters when it comes to checking if things feel right. It is the same thing that people get pissed off about when they discover that Ultimate Spiderman is now hispanic or that Perry White and Heimdall are now black in the movies.
Hair color and skin color are meaningless details. What matter more is whether or not the personality feels right.

Yes, and he looks more punk than anything else. But that's beside the point. The only thing remotely emo about his appearance is that if he doesn't get that fringe sorted soon it'll start covering his eye, but for now he just looks unkempt.The_Critic said:

There's hate for Devil May Cry 5? News to me. Really should try getting into this series. I'd like to start at the beginning, but only 3-5 are on Steam. I hear this is a... prequel, correct? (Like Serious Sam 3, the number in the title makes no sense!) This is supposed to be why Dante doesn't have white hair? Oh, yeah, and these poll options aren't even finished.
