Well not much else to say. So I will say it again. Do gifs annoy you when set as someones avatar?

They don't annoy me if they are simple and don't have allot of fast movement. But if they do have allot of fast movement, well then they drive me a little nuts, my eyes keep jumping back to them when I am reading a comment or scrolling down.

Oh, and serious props to the person on the escapist who has a simple gif of small fly crawling across a plain white background. When I was less than sober (more than sober?) I totally got fooled twice in a row.

Nah, I love them. I used to have a variety of Dr. Cox gifs that sadly died along with my old laptop. Well, apart from one. Might bring it back soon, dunno yet.

What?

Nobody could hate Ammy!

Nobody!

It really depends on what the .gif is.

Hypnotoad? Awesome.

Something sudden that just looks bad because there's no fluidity to the way it loops? Annoying.

Personally, I like them. Adds alittle flavor to my normal forum-crawling. And I agree, that fly avatar is always fun, fooled me a few times as well.

I've considered a few times replacing my Nabeshin avatar with an animated Nabeshin avatar.

Diversity is always better than plainness and that's what a image avatar is. I used to use one, now I gave him psychedelic sunglasses.

Depends, if it goes by to slow and has text (forcing me to read it because I MUST know what it says) or if it's everywhere then yes.

They never really bother me. Heck, I'd be using a gif avatar were it not for the novelty of never having changed my avatar for 4 years :p

There is one guy who had a fly/bug one that moves around and I swear for a second I always think the damn bug is actually on my monitor and I want to smoosh it.

Not normally, would largely depend on the .gif, I quite like a few, the hypnotoad one that I've seen around for example.

Dude, .gifs are great! It's like an infinite loop of entertainment! I've been thinking about switching out my current avatar with a .gif, but I haven't found the right one yet.

... no, My Spider swatting sphere shouldn't stay stationary!

I found it when browsing deviantart and thought that it described my general behavior around spiders quite well.

GIF avatars are awesome unless, like someone posted before, they have text that goes really slow.

I've personally never had a problem with them. On the contrary, I think they are quite fun to look act now and then. Especially the one user who has the black and white one of some bug-eyed guy in a robe, and after a few seconds, he will look directly at me and grin menacingly.

Startled me quite a few times. Kudos to him.

This, this right here. I guess I never really thought about WHY some annoy me or specifically which ones do. But yea I realize now it seems to just depends on if it is a fluid loop or if it has a rigid clear BEGINNING and END.

Yes Hypnotoad is awesome.

I'll be back in 4-6 weeks, going to Hypnotoad appreciation camp.

They're my one pet hate. I simply HATE the concept of using a GIF avatar. It is stupid.

I don't mind them in any capacity, but I'm less fond of ones that have an abrupt jump back to the start. I like ones that loop.
