Poll: do graphics matter to you?

okay, see people for some reason when ever im plaing a good old ps2 game or saints row two some one starts to say the graphics suck, and what does this have to do with the game play? nothing. i can see my guy, the enimes, and the cross air im good buddy, but some people wont buy a game because of the graphics, thats how important they are to them

Now, I have friends the same way. But here is how I look at it.... graphics are PART of the game. Yes, you need some good visuals to go with your story but if the story is absolute crap with horrendous controls the quality of the graphics won't matter/

Graphics are, of course, important to an extent, and some great games would be much less if the graphics were worse (Bioshock, for instance, wouldn't be nearly as atmospheric if the graphics did not allow for all the debris and damage all over the place). But I'd rather play a great game with bad graphics than vice-versa.

Though I can honestly say that if Final Fantasy VII were remade with the graphical quality of Advent Children and full cinematics, I would do whatever I had to get it.

A game has to meet some standards. let's face it; Half-Life looks like shit compared to modern video games. If someone released a game like that in the current market, everyone would mock it. So yes, graphics do matter. I'm not saying every game has to look like Crysis. I'm quite against that idea. So long as a game is tolerable to look at then I don't care about the graphics. Even if you claim to have amazing graphics your game can still look terrible. I honestly can't stand looking at Killzone 2 just because almost every thing in it is either gray or brown. It ruins the game for me.

Basically what I was trying to say only much more efficient. Plus this post also raises a point I didn't really address in my original post. Bad graphics can have a negative impact on game play. This is actually a problem I've had with a lot of FPS games recently. Many of them are far to dark in certain areas, making it difficult for me to play the game. Halo 3:ODST is a prime example of this. I tried playing the game on split screen and it was almost impossible to see what I was doing because it was so dark. It's an example of a game's graphics hindering the player.

If a game is already good, graphics are just a bonus, but a game with truly horrible or buggy graphics can be difficult to play.

As long as the graphics aren't "cartoony", such as the latest price of Persia, then the graphics don't matter to me.

Gameplay > Story > graphics.

To the fact of I need to know what it is. I can't have a blob of something and not know what it is. I feel that the story and gameplay are more important. I get pissed off when people hate a game because it has bad graphics. But it amazing story line and decent gameplay.

well that is my personal veiw. and i know you weren't complaining about it, it's just the way i worded it.

gameplay is where I look at things. I can get around a terrible looking game if there was some solid gameplay behind it.
