Lately I been having issues with some people in my local community, mainly minorities (In philosophical/political/gender/religion) - Note: I am myself part of minority groups.

have ran in to issues with a simple question that was enforced on me by some "hippie" student in my school community.

According to them I HAVE TO accept everyone, no matter what my personal opinions or standards are about them. Irony is that they haven't accepted my views, mainly because they have been exactly opposing to their views.

Question is:
Do I really HAVE TO accept everyone, even if I do not want to or I disagree with their views/status.
Have you ran in to issue similar to this; In which you have been mandated to accept someone.

Edit:

To clarify my question a bit.
I tolerate and treat everyone equally (Due to my phisophical view of "You are human, he is human, she is human and I am human, we are all human and we are equal". But people been having issue with my view of just tolerating people. According to the "hippie group" it is not enough, according to them I must accept everyone.

You don't have to do anything. Just decide for yourself where you stand. My view is that one should remain open to other people's arguments and scrutinize one's own philosophies on a regular basis, but that's just that: my view. Like I said, it's really up to you.

I don't think that you have to accept everyone. Living in a society, however, I do think that it's necessary to tolerate everyone. There's a large difference between the two.

I think "South Park" covered this topic in their "Museum of Tolerance" episode. Basically, no, you don't have to accept everyone - you're more than welcome to disagree with the philosophical/religious/political/lifestyle choices of anyone you so choose.

However, in my opinion, regardless of your views on any of the above subjects, you should treat everybody equally. Just because you disagree with them doesn't give you the right to be a dick.

you'll have to accept that they don't share your view on things, but that doesn't mean that you have to agree with everything, and what do you really mean with accept?

Well you don't HAVE to, but the right thing to do would be to at least tolerate everyone else's views. Which is to say, live and let live, but no need to 'humour' them or go out of your way to facilitate them.

You can choose not to accept someone if you want. If you do it for something superficial like race you're just a racist. Nobody ever said you had to accept everyone, and if someone did they misunderstand the general opinion.

The thing is that I have been making my own decision. But others haven't agreed on them, making me look like the bad guy - but I have always had good intentions. Only reason I do not accept someone something is the fact that I do not understand it - It start to bother me and annoy me. I try to fight against my desire for absolute reason and logic. ( I have issues with things that "do not make sense".

But the fact people are speaking and looking at me like i should and have to accept every minority and variety there is. The social pressure is giving me some issues since I have issues with understanding social contexts and behavior.

I understand the theory of free will in standardized environment. In which, according to law, I have to act like this. But the the act to act according to law is up to me.

I wish I could say otherwise, but I suspect that everyone is biased to some degree or another. The best anyone can really do is to prevent their biases from unduly influencing their reason and judgment.

No. You can't accept everyone, so why should you try to?
Because according to them I have to. The social pressure... That is the argument I have given them mnay times, but somehow they never answer it properly, they just say: "Because you have to"

well ask the hippies if they think we should accept people like the WBC, or the KKK. theres no reason we can't tolerate everybody, but i think there is a difference between tolerating and accepting.

either way, we should not accept pure hate groups in this world. we only get one life, if theirs is dedicated to making others' lives miserable, we should not accept them.

In my experience, those types of people are some of the most opinionated people I have met. Like you said, they will tell you that you have to accept everyone, even though they clearly are not accepting you. They are not nice, accepting, or open minded. They are just pretentious and annoying. I have seen pseudo-hippies preach acceptance and open-mindedness one minute, then trash on me for enjoying mixed martial arts the next.

The truth is there are always going to be people you just don't like. You don't have to accept them but it is best to be polite and civil with them as much as possible unless they are just unbareable.

I'm a bit confused here, could you please define what "accepting someone" specifically means?
