Some do. A lot seem to use the phrase "PC gaming master race" as a bit of self-referential humour in the same way "Murica, fuck yea" is used, but some definitely are elitist and see console gamers like a lot of gamers see casual gamers.

Ahh, the good old ti-89 got me through many a boring maths lesson.

Teacher: "Are you doing your work?"
Me: "I'm totally doing these differential equations, and not playing snake at all!"
Haha I always played phoenix that was a space ship rail shoot'em up at the best part was it had upgrades and looping levels if you managed to beat it. I also had mario 3 on it which was fucking awesome as well. My friend had the calculator game hook-up we even had multiplayer games we played with a connector cable. Those, my friend, were the days

Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes, but its not all PC gamers. Like with most things, such as peoples general dislike of the US, its not the whole of the group, its the loud ass minority that makes everyone look bad.

And honestly, I prefer the feel of a gamepad to KB/M...

I'm a multi-platform gamer.

PC, Xbox, WiiU.

Game how ya want, I don't care as long as you're not a dick about it.

Google personally tailors your search engines according to what you have been on before. So for example for me (as a primary PC gamer) it came up with PC gamers are dying, boring and dead. These being one of the common arguments a while back about PC gaming.

In other words. Depending on who you are depends on what is searched for you.

Just for fun, I tried google's auto-complete on "console gamers are"... I got "stupid", "idiots", "not real gamers" and "retarded". So.... Dunno what this thread is about anymore.

Everyone knows that a PC is superior to console though, if the gamers themselves view eachother differently, at least the PC is always better and more versatile than the console.

Eh, PC gaming like EVERYTHING TO EXIST EVER is marked by "Oh, I'll dismiss your claim I have a problem since it's a small minority but I shall now use a teeny tiny minority to claim YOU have a problem"

I don't know if we all have an image problem, but gamers in general certainly do. We're oddly defensive when it comes to our hobby, especially in instances where we should be able to weather other people's sometimes opposing opinions. Not only that, but we're markedly tribal amongst ourselves. You're not just a gamer, you're a *console* gamer or a *PC* gamer, and you have leanings towards one or more of dozens of varying genres. You might be chasing the bleeding edge or you might play games for their provided experience or their narrative delivery... That gives rise to so many different subcultures that it's far too easy to pick out a niche group or one that inversely receives a lot of mainstream attention and to go "Pfft, gamers" based solely on that non-representative sample.

I think this stems from the fact that "console-tard" or otherwise, we all have our roots in the nearly mythical sense of persecution the nerds of old used to live with. We're brought up as a consumers and hobbyists to almost want to have that albatross on our necks. We're all expecting our little chunk of happiness to be the object of derision for someone else, even in the midst of our shared culture.

The end result is a smattering of sects and currents of thought that snap and tear at one another like nobody's business. Which is why the console wars will probably never end - people put together entire Selves, entire segments of their personality and life experiences, based on the games they play. So considering that, if I happen to have a strong bond with the Xbox 360's lineup, it'll be easier for me to jump the gun and just assume that the PS3's titles are inferior. Sticking to stereotypes and hearsay becomes easier, because you feel validated in your beliefs as a fan of the "opposing" hunk of hardware.

It's this defensive stance that needs to go away, but I don't see this happening anytime soon. Not while State senators are trying to pin the blame of serial murders onto things that have zero bearing with recent tragedies.

As long as we won't be able to just cool our jets and freaking *relax* without feeling the need to validate our hobby's existence and our passion for it at every turn, we'll keep occasionally devolving into these fairly hateful basins of zealous one-eyed fans.

Joking aside, I have consoles and a gaming PC.

Am I a hybrid that will bring about the end of days?

Long may the Multi-platform Master Race laugh at the poor single platform peasants :D

Honestly though, would it not just be so much easier if nobody gave a shit what other people played?

[sub]I think I hope for too much with that statement [/sub]

I don't see how headgear preference has a correlation to platform preference. The argument goes both ways.

I did a test with other similar search phrases, and I want to state that these examples do not represent my personal opinion. ;-)

Americans are:
rude
weird
getting dumber

brits are:
ugly
stupid
annoying
rude

republicans are:
idiots
evil
crazy

atheist are:
smarter
wrong
retarded
ignorant

(that one actually has a positive adjective, surprisingly)

christians are:
burnt alive in Nigeria (this one seems like it might be factual)
annoying
hateful
fake

Obama is:
gay
a muslim
an idiot
a liar
So, I'd say your conclusion say more about your method being flawed than the actual result. If you make a search that is very generalizing in nature, you will get similar results.

I like PC gaming because I can afford it, if I could, I'd own every goddamn console ever made, but I can't, so I stick to my trusty PC and wait for a few months for a Steam sale.

And I also buy a few Wii games every now and then.

I believe you mean "losing". For about 5 minutes I was wondering why tight hats were the problem.

OT: No, we don't. Gamers in general have the mindset of children for the most part, which is why all the flare ups occur in the first place. No one is going to take us seriously until that gets fixed.

No I haven't seen that one, I really love him so thanks for the video.

And he is right that you can't do a search like that with everything. My own small study was of course very biased, I left out searches that didn't prove my point. For instance russians are very boring to use as a search phrase, and I imagine Angolans would be as well.

And some searches will even break the format:

Horticulturists are
what are the duties of a horticulturist

I think my conclusion is that if you go looking for a broad negative generalization then you will find it.

That's just the internet being the internet...

Did you try typing "console gamers are" in google?

Hardly surprising. Then again, anything said about gamers is really just things you could say about people (in general) when given anonymity. Go to any major news network website, check out an article, read the comments. They're no worse than crap you see in an MMO, FPS, or any other kind of game.
