(spends 10 minutes catching up with the thread)...

I do try to read through the thread before posting (though March Mayhem is an exception due to the amount of time used to chance of interesting comments ratio, obviously) - why do you think I'm only on 100-odd posts after this long being here? :p

I minimum read OP and the first page. About if I listen to any requests from OP, most of the time it has to be reasonable.

I (usually) read the OP and skim through comments. But really, repeating a comment someone else made is hardly annoying or spam-ish. It can show criticizms, good points, all that crap.

I read. I do not understand you concept of "listen" unless you are talking about embed YT videos.

Sometimes.
Really depends how many pages long the topic is.
If it's over three, I won't read it.

Well, the Escapist liked to fuck me over by putting me at the bottom of the last page of a topic which is REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING, but I usually just skim through the OP, and read the whole thing if it's fairly short and I'm not tired.

Unless the thread is really long, i'l take a look at people's posts so i can see if i'm not copying. I'l take a look at people's posts anyway.

i will read the first post as long as it isn't too long, otherwise i don't read it at all and usually won't post either. think i posted in your QTE thread and there were a lot of people who mentioned GoW.

EDIT: is the 'you shot who in the what now' option a reference to The Simpsons? (namely the Who Shot Mr. Burns Part II episode?)

I skim the OP and if I feel I can make a positive contribution, I'll look for the question or points to discuss. Unfortunately because I don't fully read the OP I occasionally make an ass of myself. My bad.

Sometimes you need to read the OP or you'll be completely off topic and look like an utter dick.

Factual discussion: OP + all other relevant posts (basically ignoring all trollage)
Opinionated discussion: OP + well argumented ones (basically ignoring all trollage + all opinions who don't explain why they are theirs)

Come to think of it, i guess i "read" everything or how i prefer to call it "scanning".
If choice of words from any of the replies is unchallenging i skip to the next.
And if the OP isn't interesting enough in the first place i skip the whole thread.

I read the OP.

I read the whole thread if it is two pages or less.

If I find the topic really interesting, then I read the whole thread regardless of length.

Otherwise, no way. I have better things to do with my time then read 6 pages of people making the same three points.

Well... I read all of the OP, and read at most, a page or so, but I find myself saying things that have already been said >.<
Maybe I'm just not that creative?

No, I don't want any christmas cakes...

But seriously, I do read and listen, and get very irritated when people start throwing in things advised against. That's part of why I stopped making threads, everything just degraded.

I read and listen. Although I don't personally think it's a big deal when someone repeats something are doesn't quite read the whole thing. It just means I don't need to take their opinion seriously.

I usually read the entire thread when I come across something interesting. Have a habit of skimming posts a bit though, which sucks because I don't like repeating suggestions or ideas other people have, unless when needed.

For some, anything beyond the thread title is tldr.
tl:dr - it was more than one word...

I'll read the OP and the first page of comments. Maybe the next page if I think what I'm going to say is almost certain to have been said already. And I try not to repeat things that have already been said, other than to quote the first person to have said it.

Of course, all of these rules go out the window when confronted with a poll, in which case I'll explain my answer, and you'll listen, dammit!
