Nope. Though I think Scientist need to get to work on plasmids already, no matter how impractical they are.

I practice it on the weekends. My red "Suicide Destruction" deck is pretty awes-

What? Oh, that kind of magic....

Well, I believe Jimi Hendrix playing his restrung guitar with his cock is magic...so, yeah. I think it's possible.

Do I believe in writing incantations, invoking the power of some deity, and casting spells? No because that doesn't work. Do I believe in slight of hand, illusions, and other things that stage magicians use to entertain an audience? Yes because those things can be witnessed and observed.

However if you define magic as manipulating nature to achieve desired results then yes I do believe in magic. Its called the sciences and works quite well. There are very real counterparts to many of the most common things that people try to do with magic.

With science we can now artificially create the nutrients (primarily nitrogen in a usable form) necessary to grow a good crop. (Haber process particularily)

Alter our foods to give better yield through genetic engineering

Agricultural Science in general

Love potion (GHP, Aphrodisacs and so forth)
Sleep potion (Sedatives)
Death potion (Poisons of all kinds)

Biochemistry in general, but in particular the entire field of pharmaceuticals.

While impractical (and immoral) for most people its quite easy to spread contagion and disease to other people. Manufacturing of disease(altering already existing strains to do particular things) already exists and while traditionally used to either study or as a tool it could easily be turned into a "curse".

Virology, pathology, and so forth

The list could go on but I think that gets the point across. Of course you are never going to be able to do exactly what "magic" can do in stories as its used to progress the plot or give a setting. Likewise it may not be as effective as the "magic" in stories. However science is the real world's magic in that it does for us what was once the realm of magic/prayer. So if you want to grow up and be a Wizard start studying Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and so forth.

TLDR: Science is magic

"Magic is just science we haven't discovered yet" -I don't remember who said it but I like that quote a lot.
Yea.
I tend to believe in what I can see and experience. That said, I've experienced some weird things in my life; and while science may some day be able to explain them better for me (like if astral projection is really an exploration of other wavelengths of energy/other dimensions or just a really vivid dream or an acid flashback) science can't explain everything just yet. Some people would consider astral projection magic but I think that it's just science we don't quite understand yet.
