While no solid evidence supports that ghosts exist, I personally believe that they do. Just like with people who say they "heard the voice of God" talking to them or any other kind of religous or paranormal event, it is nearly impossible to back up your claims with solid evidence. While I do consider that my personal experiences could have a perfectly normal explanation, the nature of these events has me leaning towards that of the paranormal.

Unicorns, are figments of imagination.
So that stranger that got me in his car with a promise of a Unicorn was lying?

No. There's unsurprisingly little evidence to support the theory that dead people can become otherworldly apparitions. Also, that story has 'lame' written through it like a stick of rock.
its irish folklore dont blame me
Is that insulting Irish folklore there, Skippy? Actually, I love my country's myths and legends, and I certainly know a Cúchullain (who had a faithful charioteer named Laeg) from a Ferdia (who was killed after an exceedingly long duel with Cúchullain, his best friend.), and I've never heard that story in my life.
Seems like one of those YouTube "Repost X times or Y will happen to you in Z days." things to me.
Also, are you saying this actually happened? Hell, even if this did happen, I have a simple, rational, explanation.
Jack, a very depressed boy, may have suffered hallucinations, which could be a result of damn near anything, from prolonged insomnia to an insanity-causing disease, or wake during REM sleep, causing sleep paralysis.
Driven quie loopy by his hallucinations, coupled with crushing depression, commited suicide, either during a fit of concentrated depression or as a result of hallucinations applying "force" to him, whereas he was actually moving himself.

Take THAT.
Oh yeah.

Nope, just like personal religious experiences, ghosts are just tempoary nevrotic hallucinations.

Of course not, most of the 'proof' is anecdotal. When some people encounter something they don't understand, the first thing they seem to do is go to the paranormal. Creaking floors in the middle of the night? Ghosts. Yeah, don't even bother finding an actual explanation, just say it was ghosts.

You were probably still sleeping or had a hypnopompic hallucination. Quite common.

I have no reason to believe in them...

But I also have no reason to not believe in them.

So, safe to say...until there is solid, scientific evidence that ghosts do, or do not exist, then...well, yeah.

but what about these reports we hear about that involve people who dont believe in anything supernatural, and all of a sudden they experience something? many cases involve more than one person.
I don't believe in anything supernatural and occasionally I get incredibly paranoid and my animal brain kicks in and I see shadows where there are no shadows and hear menacing sounds where there is only the refrigerator humming.

It comes down to this. Do you think it's more likely that the ghost you saw was your brain playing tricks with you, which brains have been documented to do under strict empirical conditions, or do you think it is more likely that there exists an unmeasurable and unprovable essence inside each and every living thing (or maybe just Homo sapiens, depending on who you ask) that exists after the living thing's blood has ceased pumping and the sensory inputs have ceased sensing and the brain has stopped compiling? And this essence goes on to reveal itself to people in certain situations, but never in such a way that it can be documented under strict scientific conditions?

Why living things? What's special about living things that gives them this essence that allows them to do that? Is this essence really them, or is it just some left-over garbage? Is this essence conscious like humans? Is the essence of non-conscious living things like plants conscious? Why don't we hear of plant ghosts?

I mean, if you want to pick the latter you're going to have to justify why and answer some really pretty tough questions. But still, go ahead. Maybe these things exist. But the most probable answer is that they don't.

I didn't believe in ghosts until I saw one. Now ghosts are one of the few horror movie monsters that actually scare me. Zombies, werewolves, and vampires don't do anything to me but you throw a ghost in the mix and I'm terrified. I saw a ghost plain as day and I was nearly petrified when I saw it and if you heard the story behind it, you would believe it too. See, it sounds like a completely made up bad ghost story but it is true. You don't have to believe me, it's just that I believe in ghosts and that's all that matters.

Oh, but I don't believe all those super lame ghost stories that people put on TV. Like the REAL Haunted Houses and stuff like that. I'm very skeptical when it comes to ghost stories.

No.

If ghosts existed, wouldn't one or more of them have come forward and revealed itself to the world?
i mean, everyone dies, even attention-whores who'll do everything they can to be seen and heard. Why should they cahnge just cause they died?
Or why should only shy people who preffered noone to know they existed become ghosts when they died?

Point: if ghosts existed, they would've made it clear to us by now.

And as for the "only the gifted can see them" stuff, i find it hard to belvie, cause most people who take themselves serious as a "medium" and thinks they're special seems to do it eitehr for profit, or to make everyone think they're special.
wow. never have i ever read a post so logical and yet so ignorant. this isnt an insult. youre asking questions i havnt heard before...lmao
*edit* most of them cant exactly reveal themselves to the world on account that theyre dead and not famous celebrities. can you imagine the public relations necessary for a ghost to reveal itself like that? theyre like invisible.
First, what's the ignorant part? i'm currious.

Second, who says they're invisible? lets assume they are real, what about all the people who claims that they've seen ghosts, are they just madmen raving due to shrooms, unlik ethe people who only "felt" or heard them?

Invisible or not, if someone like Paris Hilton died, i'm sure she would find a way to make herself noticed, invisible or not.
Wheres all the 2Pac tracks form beyond the grave? (apart from the ones recorded before, but mixed and released after his dead) what's more gangsta than beeing gangata after beeign shot dead?
Wheres the brilliant scholar ghosts who has had centuries, or millenia to study on, and bless the world with their great immortal minds?

My point is, if ghosts were real, one or more ghost would have already made it clear enough that they were real, and if anyone says they've already done that, the poll speaks for itself. Apparently they didn't do a good enough job at making their existence known to mankind.
