i am very irritated with the illegibility of some people (see Youtube comments)and their surprising inability to write coherent sentences; so I ask you, do you bother writing properly on the internet?
Oh, and yes, I did read the forum guidelines on this sort of thing..

Yeah, because as those guidelines said - unless I'm remembering everything wrong - "We take the time to read your posts, so you should take the time to make your post pleasant to read."

Or something like that. I may be paraphrasing.

Yes. Even in texts, I spell everything correctly and make it as grammatically perfect as I can. I'd hate to look like some Neanderthal moron who can't grasp the fact that 'you' has 3 letters.

Yup.

Text messages and even messages on consoles.

Used to be a time when I didn't.

Those were dark, dark days.

Of course. It shows respect for others. I like it when people think of me and my poor eyes too and punctuate their writing correctly.

As it says on the door of the men's bathroom: We aim to please. You aim too, please!

Heh, same. Well, I doubt I'm grammatically perfect, but I try to type properly even in text messages. It really bothers other people for some reason.

OT: Yes. I actually have to make an effort if I want to not use capital letters and periods. I guess I'm just accustomed to typing like this. Doesn't bother me too much if others don't, as long as I can understand what they're trying to say.

Texting is a time saving form of communication, as opposed to calling, hence the shorthand. I think text language is perfectly alright in texts, and sometimes on the internet.

On a forum like this, however, I like at least an attempt to write properly.

Grammar isn't an actual rule in the guidelines. But it is heavily encouraged.

As for me, I like to present myself professionally, here and in reality. I wouldn't write like that if I was busy with an term paper or something similar, so why should I do it here.

Unless I am attempting humour, yes.

I like to make sure people understand how I am saying things.
Otherwise there could be misunderstandings.

I spent 18 years learning English, and at no point do I intend on desecrating it in any form or fashion.

All the time. When you have a keyboard in front of you, not using decent punctuation, capitalisation and so on is just lazy. Either that or you're just a moron. Or both.

Like Frequen-Z (above), I also do the same when sending a text. On older phones it's was quicker and easier to use "txt spk" but now it's so much easier, especially now predictive texting has gotten better. I can only speak for my phone on that matter so hold the flames!

YouTube comments are a classic example of the sheer dimwittedness of the majority of internet users but they do get everywhere. Everywhere I go I see retarded comments with not even a full-stop at the end. That and the hideously irritating paragraphs with no punctuation at all.

There is only one place for no punctuation and Yahtzee has bagged it!

Completely unrelated to anything in this thread, but you have the best avatar ever.

On topic: Yeah, I do. All the time, in fact. It makes things a lot easier for anyone readng what I write.

Yeah, all the time. The only time I won't use punctuation or use text-speak is when I'm doing it for comic (usually sarcartic) effect.
