Pretty much all my Xbox360 games were bought second hand and some of my PS3 ones are aswell, but these days I order games from England since it's so frickin' cheap there!
I love you, England.

Yes, but never from Gamestop or EB games. I usually go to a pawn shop since they have many old games brought in by people who think they've outgrown them.

Almost bought left 4 Dead about a year and a half ago for $60. Last month I bought it used for 10 bucks. What product is worth buying when it drops down to about 17% of it's original price in just 18 months, still working just as good as it did new? I do buy some games at full price new, but I can justify it by buying cheap and used more often than not.

Yeah. I live in Australia, and I'm sure you've heard the outrageous prices we have to pay for games, ($110 on release day) so I couldn't care less if the companies lose money, screw them.

Most of my games are used, except for the games I have on the 360 and PC. I don't have the money to buy games new. That would entail spending from 60 to 100+ dollars a game.

I buy a lot of new games... But there are always games that slip through that I either missed or didn't realize went Out of Print. You didn't specify if you meant only games that are still available new or not so I voted yes.

I'm not trying to sound like some high and mighty douche, but I buy them new because I can afford it, and I want to support the developer.

I'll buy old PS2 games, but that's about it, I tend to find them in charity stores and the like more than in GAME however, most big stores have quit anything pre-360.

For PC, there's too many great online DD stores to bother picking up a disc based copy.

I generally like shiny new games, but if I can get a game waaay cheaper preowned, or it's an old obscure game I can't find new, I have no qualms with buying an old one.

Nope.
The only local purveyors in secondhand software is the behemoth GameStop. The stores are too small, the ::fingerquotes:: "help" is anything but, and the prices for even years-old games exceptionally overpriced. I'm almost glad my PS2 up and disappeared in the move to the new house, just so that I don't even get the itch to rifle through the bargain bin anymore.

But mostly I prefer to buy my games direct from Steam, or via Amazon after a few weeks/months to let the price settle a bit below the ~$60 price point of most retailers, if for the console.

I literally own ONE game that I'd gonsidering turning in, but since it's only for store credit or just cents on the dollar of the pittance that they'd even offer for a PS3 Bioshock disk, I'll just let it sit in the game drawer to make me cringe when I get to the end of the bunch when I sift through the games.

It depends on the game.

Big title releases generally attract my immediate attention, as for anything that I can wait for, I just buy it used later down the line.

Only if it's a game that's out of print or really hard to find otherwise. I do rarely pay full-price though, I'll usually wait a few months until the game I want drops in price. Or see if my local library has it in yet. Yes. My local library let's you lend games for free. I love that.

On the Pc-side I do most my gameshopping on either Steam or Gog right now so... No used copies there.

I buy used games, but it's usually older games that are generally difficult to find new. Gamecube games, for example, are nigh impossible to find new anymore. Your best bet to find a copy of, say, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes or Digimon World 4 (both of which are good fun, IMO) is to go to GameStop or Bookmans (A used store chain in the southwestern US) and browse their used game sections. Even then, you'd have to check at least a few times a week, especially with Bookmans. Their stock shifts fairly quickly. Not only that, but new games are almost always $50 or more these days, and the lion's share of games that I like are, as I've said, older games that are hard to find new.

So yeah, I buy used games, but I have my reasons.

Yes. Our local CeX, GAME and HMV always have some good titles and even though their DLC has been maxed out, most of the games are still a steal. I don't buy off eBay, though - I like to be able to inspect the discs up front.
