So simple question Do you buy strategy guides for the games you own? Also what was the last strategy guide you bought ( if ever ).

I usually never buy strategy guides, i own about two. The First one was for Final fantasy 12 , i bought the collectors edition the day it came out , and the strategy guide was 20% off when you buy the collectors edition . I'm glad i did because theres so much to do in that game , and i really completed it 100 % with every character at lvl 99 .My second guide that i own is World of Warcraft cataclysm , and in my opinion that was a waste of money :/ although it was a Birthday gift i had asked for from my ex gf.

I've only ever bought two - Final Fantasy X and XII. I bought X's because I loved the game and wanted to get the most out of it, and I got XII's due to me being stuck - I'd mucked a lot of things up on my first playthrough, so I started again, referring to the guide every now and then.

I have owned a few throughout time but I never really bought any but I do like them as they can expand the game and show you new fun things you could have missed.

I have mario sunshine, f zero gx, zelda ocarania of time and windwaker.

Only for jrpgs or other games that cannot be 100%ed intuitively. If it's something that a normal, functioning human being can figure out on his own (read: all other games), i don't bother.

I do for some RPGs if I want to find everything and it's easier having the book there instead of going to GameFAQs all the time.

SOMETIMES. They're kind of pricy and the internet is usually as apt a source if you have know where not to go. That said, I usually get them for bonus features and achievement guides for games I REALLY like.

Of course not, google exists for the rare occasions I'm not able to work out the bizzare logic unique to whatever game it is.

I bought then when I was growing up in the 90s. They're more of a quint relic from my childhood than anything. The internet has pretty well made them pointless. I think the last one I ever bought was for Morrowind.

I've got about 10. Some games just have so many extras (Fallout 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy games) that a guide can be really helpful. Googling everything can get tedious. And I like the artwork.

Great reading material and helps me decide if i want to play again (note i only buy one after I beat the game). Just gives me something to read and lets me know if I missed much

I had one or two when I was younger and had to deal with retarded parental controls. But now I use the internet like a normal person. Because it's free

I never have but I would always glance through some for games I didn't own as a kid. I still do sometimes take a look through one now and again. I think they're a waste of cash with how the internet is pretty much the best walkthough guide you can get.

No, there is no point when things like gamefaqs exists and the fact that you can pretty much google anything about a game and have it answered instantly. That and stratefy guides are the most obscenely overpriced things, they run what $10-15. Psh, save that money for your next game.

Sometimes I do. More often for the artwork than any help it gives. Doubtful I'm buying one again soon after getting the Dragon Age II guide. Yeah it had some nice artwork but was really, really lacking in the strategy department. The way it was put together bothered me as well, there was very little on the actual campaign.

Not often, because the value is simply not there. Any information you might want is on the internet anyway and that is without going into how beating a game without any guides at all is better for the experience anyway.

However, sometimes I like to have them for the artwork or maps or whatever.

I have several. Usually for games I know have a lot of stuff I may miss, or may not be able to figure out how to do.

I have one for a Final Fantasy game, the awesome looking special ediiton one for Phantom Hourglass(which is the only Zelda I've completed and I did it to the full. I usually stop on all other before the last dungeon because I want to get everything)

I even bought one for the new Ocarina 3D, because even if everyone knows the secrets I like having a quick source and it's nice just to collect a guide of something that hasn't had one for 13 years.

Nowadays Wikias completely replace guides in my opinion. They are free, interactive and often have more depth and love put into them than any guide could.
