I will point you to the Game Overthinker episode about realism and tell you that I agree with the statement it makes about realism simply being a STYLE. a style i personally like, but often crave a little variety and go play my killer 7's and my dynasty warrior's and my okami's for a little while.

Sometimes realism is a nice thing to have, but I generally have more fun with wackier physics. For example, crashing into another car in GTA4 results in a pretty realistic crash, with Nico flying through the windshield and skidding along the ground, but I get better reactions out of a game where crashing into a car makes the opposing car fly off into the sunset and explode as it crashes into a mountain while I use my infinitely-replenishing parachute bag to fly to safety.

I like a little bit of realism but other than that I prefer games to not be realistic.

example: GTA SA is a classic in my opinion
um...SA uses a lot of "realism"
I mean it's not realistic but no game is truly realistic. It takes place in real looking city and has (for the most part) consistent physics.
spawning a jet flying to the highest mountain and driving off in a camper van is very realistic

It depends on the type of the game to be honest, but in general I'd prefer a game to not be realistic as they are suppose to be fantastic routes of escapism (and being a solider, cop, etc...IRL can be pretty lame at times).

Even games that claim to have realism like COD aren't really that realistic, sure they're a notch up from oblivion but i wouldn't call it realalistic that no matter how many times i get injured i can just sit it off in a corner

I don't think there's any realism in games
Then you've never played ARMA, Grand Prix Legends, any Flight Sim. All of the REAL realistic games/simulators have such a focused demographic that they exclude the normal gaming population.

if reality were so damn interesting, we wouldnt be playing games in the first place, would we?

realism in games exists to make it more believable and therefore immersive, but thats all its there for; its pretty much like science fiction; it has to be believable enough that the fantastical part is all the more interesting.

Depends on the tone, art style and goal of the game. Realism does not fit everything.

It depends. I don't care about regen health or that kind of thing, but I do care about stuff like in Oblivion, where you can repair leather armour with a hammer and it takes 0 amount of time.

I've played Flight Sim and Grand Prix

I meant I've never seen a realistic shooter (I must be more clear in the future!)

As stated many many times, it can be great if used properly, and atrocious when done superfluously.

Personally, I'm happy either way, but if a game is advertised as realistic, then I get Just Cause, I'mma feel a bit put out

If the game is aiming towards the realistic spectrum then yes. I hate games that are supposed to be realistic, but then aren't realistic just cto compensate for balance issues.

Well the ARMA series is a military simulator. Operation Flashpoint is along the same vein as well.

Most of the time I don't really mind when games aren't realistic for balance issues. Mainly because when they aren't realistic in shooters, it only has to do with weapon layouts or weapon choices.

Depends on the game but usually no. Videogames for me are meant to escape reality not emulate it. Shooters, for the most part yeah. Games like GTA, no pissed the hell out of me what they did to my beloved GTA. Amazing how I enjoyed/kept Saint's Row 2 way longer than GTA.

depends, if something kills me in a game and it happens to be PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE in real life(such as someone shooting you without facing you, and there not even doing that evil dead shoulder thing), It will be like 2 deaths for the bullets of one. stupid programmers killing me with there impossible hippo bullshit.

It all depends on the game, but that's probably obvious. If I'm playing, say, Heavy Rain, then yes, I want realism. Final Fantasy? Not so much. I'm fine with it either way, though. I've enjoyed real-to-life games and I've enjoyed complete futuristic off-the-wall kind of games.

Depends on the game. Heartbeat monitors ruin MW:2 because its supposed to be realistic. But when someone summons what is in effect the god of death in Odin in final fantasy it doesnt matter because its not supposed to be real.

Almost all of how realistic a game needs to be is in how it presents itself and cannot be categorised by your list.
