I'll usually pop in a cheat code after I have finished a game when I play through it again just to see what kind of shenanigans I can kick up.

Well there was this one time, I was at a party and she was all over me but my girlfriend was in the next room so-Oh, I see what you did there.

Generally, I don't cheat. Only because a lot of games these days don't let you cheat.

Cheats make some games more fun like the NPC_SPAWN _____ Cheat on Jedi Academy. Making yourself invisble and making a massive army fight another is loads of fun. ^^

I only use cheats after completeing the game honestly.
As do I. The only games that almost beg me to cheat are RTS games and business/life simulators. Most of the time the two genres are either way too difficult or become so uninteresting that I have to cheat to make it playable.

Only if:
-The gameplay mechanics break down, or are grossly imbalanced;
-The section is stupidly hard;
-I want to have some fun, i.e spawning a rhino in GTA:SA, enabling flying cars and using the main gun for propulsion.

Depends on the game, but if I like it, I will never say I completed it when I used cheats.

In Fallout 3 I made my own mod, everything can be repaired by basically all the "clutter" items(tin cans, superglue, scrap metal) I can use a huge bobblehead to give me 1000 ammo of every type, I increased walking speed by nearly 50% and I've installed a mod that increases weapon damage, health it adds a perk that gives me multiple perks at once(regeneration, no addiction, increased stats, breathe under water)

In Oblivion I did the same as I did in Fallout 3, but because I had a lot more knowledge of modding, I had made my own flaming sword(flames were actually on the weapon and only appeared when the weapon was drawn) which just destroyed anything it hit.(instant-kill script on the weapon)

For me, cheats add replayability to a game. As I showed above, I will use weapons in an RPG that completely unbalance the game(starting with Excalibur2 in FF9) I will use god mode and unlimited ammo in any shooter but I will always, at some point, finish the game without cheats.

The Sims. Who DOESN'T want to sell their bugs and their trash can for 2,000§?
Also when I create new files in Fallout 3 and Oblivion.
And if I've beaten the game and I'm bored.

No, not at all. I feel too cheap and would prefer to know I won by my own skill at the game rather than being totally invulnerable.

I did take a Banshee into the final boss on Halo 2, although that's just ingenious playing, not an actual cheat.

The closest I come to cheating is this: In split-screen games I'll occasionally notice from the corner of my eye that someone is seeing a man moving a lot like I'm moving. Sometimes I let the player have his kill seeing as I legitimately didn't see him in my own screen, but other times I'll react in a semi-unfair fashion. I won't turn around straight away (that'd be too far, and a bit obvious) but I'll head for the nearest corner.

That really is a cool little exploit. Felt so satisfying frying that f***er as easily as he usually shrugs off your shots.

They can make dicking around in a game extremely fun. Like writing a script to do the "summon tank" cheat 100x times in GTA3 and then watching the computer chop up and then 100 tanks fall from the sky and annihilate everything on the road while you watch from safety...

I used to, but it destroyed the fun of completing a game...

I remember cheating every Commandos or Heroes map I played :/

Unless you count using gravity codes in GTA: San Andreas cheating ;d

Like others, only in games that really aren't fun unless you cheat... The Sims, GTA, etc.
I knew some guy that was pathetic though... he wouldn't even download the FEAR demo because he couldn't find a god mode cheat for it...

I use cheats when I have gotten bored of a game. Using cheats like Infinite Ammo and God Mode are fun because you can just go crazy and shoot every guy in the room on the Hardest difficulty full well knowing that they cant hurt you. =D

I personally don't use cheats that help along with the story of a game because I would rather get the full experience of the game and actually be challenged than to just calmly walk through shooting anyone that even looks at you funny.

cheating on fallout 3 is very disatisfying, somehow the xuanlong assault rifle that you find by yourself is so much more empowering than the one you garnered using the "player.additem. 0004fy6 1" code. (and no that's not the real code for the xuanlong rifle.)
i only ever cheated in the sims, and that's when i was REALLY bored over a sim or if i wanted to build my mansion of debauchery. on spore as well, i would use the money cheat, as it was bloody hard to make substantial money to make a formidable ship, as the spice output was so damn slow. one more thing i'd like in that game would be LESS PIRATE ATTACKS. i mean, it's not like if you had an epic empire spanning 50 systems, pirates would still see you as an easy target.

I just cheat when I'm bored or if I've completed the game just to mess around.
What this guy said. I cheated in Turok once I got sick of the game and used all the cheats in Golden Eye once I completed the game.

Unfortunately cheating only cures boredom for a short time so I avoid it unless I dislike the game, then I will go spastic before giving the game back.

I tend to just get help from wakthroughs and such, cheating really takes the best enjoyment out of the game
