I'm sitting here on my 360's dashboard, trying to decide what it is that I want to do and I noticed something strange.

I click on the ads when I'm bored. Not the SALE ads or something, I mean the "this is just a McDonald's commercial, nothing good is given to you for clicking on me" ads. I realized that I do this a lot when I'm bored and on my 360, which made me curious:

Do you click on ads when you're bored? If so, are you hoping to get something shiny out of it or is it just something to do?

*EDIT: Sorry, I thought I made it clear but I was referring to ads on the 360. I don't think anyone is dumb enough to click on ads that are on the PC...

Not really, I've been bombarded with ads so much that I don't even give them the time of day anymore. I barely even give them a glance and just mentally switch them off.

Naw, I never click on ads, ever. Don't know why but I just can't stand them.

I see every single ad on the internet as a possible malware risk and so I never have or will click on them. I just have this built in reaction to not trust internet ads.

Generally speaking, I'd say no. I don't like ads, and in fact if there's a time where I'm watching television and don't have the ability to fast-forward whatever I'm watching during commercial breaks, I'll either mute the sound or listen to music until the show/movie comes back on.

No, that never happens to me. I never get bored, I mean. And why could one get bored with so much to do? You can play games, read books, watch stuff, or maybe try learning something, talk to people, practice skills - whatever! The possibilities are quite literally countless. What you don't believe me about never getting bored? Well I just spent this time writing this stupid ass post here. Does that mean I'm bored and I have nothing else to do to justify my existence? ...Erm, maybe BUT YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!

No, as I don't want people tracking me. If you want to know what I'm talking about, download Collusion. Then browse normally for a couple of days.

Good? Now open Collusion and see where your traces are on the Internet.

I try to be as hidden as possible, especially on the Internet, viruses WILL do some nasty shit to your PC...

I don't have a 360 so no ads for me to deal with woop woop!
But then again one does wonder why you click ads when you're "bored" on your 360... or rather why would you be browsing ads on your 360 instead of iunno playing a game?

The only time I pay attention to ads is to remember the brand, so I can avoid it like the plague.

Nope. Ads don't deserve my attention most of the time because they're intrusive and trying to but their way into what I'm doing. Were the to nicely sit to the side in a very small window, like the one underneath the "Contacts" tab in Skype, I wouldn't mind to much. When they're a popup window that won't minimise, or they take up more than 5% of my screenspace in total [Adding up all ads on the page], then I ignore all ads completely as I go online to play games and type on forums, not to watch ads. Its why I don't even watch TV anymore.

i would if it wasn't for the fact second every ad i click on assumes im a sucker and generally tries to penalize me by opening up a dozen more ads and then theres my favorite part when a page asks me if i want to leave

Ads are common vehicles for malware, even if you never click on them. Even if the website that runs the ads is trustworthy, and the company that serves the ads is trustworthy, the ads themselves are sometimes not. I've caught a couple trojans that way, from sites I trusted. A couple months back this even happened to the Minecraft forums, infecting visitors to the forums who didn't even click the ads. This is why I've come to believe that allowing ads to display in one's browser, let alone clicking on them, is a bad idea.

It's also why I think it's unethical for a site to discourage certain countermeasures, contractual obligations or no. If your business model depends on opening your users to security vulnerabilities, you're doing something wrong.

No, because I don't need to be spammed by products I couldn't give a damn about, or run the risk of having malware on my 'puter.
I feel it's rather silly to click on ads at complete random out of sheer boredom.

No, because I dont even notice them any more, and at the same time, understand that sponsors are what helps us have free apps and free websites and stuff.
So I just pretend to look at them, and let them do their thing.

Nope. For the most part, I don't even notice ads anymore; they've just become part of the background, easily ignored. Also, I'm paranoid that they'll somehow destroy my PC with malware. That might be illogical. I don't know. Not a clue. Don't care. No clicky.

No, because if I'm bored and on my xbox I like to play these fun little things you may have heard of. They're called video games.

No. I avoid ads like the plague. When they come on the tv I just mute it. I'm sick of these damned advertisers trying to get inside my head and sell some stupid thing I probably don't even want. IMO ads are pure evil.
