i've been wondering how many people actually complete a game 100% e.g. all colectables found, all achievements unlocked etc. because personally i'm not usually bothered about it, i just trade with my friends after a few months, if its not done by then, then screw it. so am i the only one or am i not alone.

I do try, but rarely on my first run through of a game. And it doesn't really worry me, to be honest. It's a nice addition, but I'm not unpleased if I get to the end and I've left something behind.

Hell no, most of the time. I tried doing it for GTA 4 but the game's just too frakking big. Usually when I rent games, I have two goals- beat the game and get at least half of the achievements. If I can achieve both, I'm satisfied.

Im the guy that only does the main story in Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Yea.. that sucks..

Oh, and i'm definitely not going to find all the flags, shinny thingies they put in games.
That's just a waist of time.

I just play and do things until the game bores me.

If you're only getting them to get 100% completion then you're missing out on the fun.

I have only done it on Super Metroid, Super Mario Land 3, Super Mario 64, SSBM and Metroid Prime. So yes, I do have alot of time on my hands.

Not if I can help it. I'm thinking specifically of the Final Fantasy games here. I have never bothered with all the non-plot-related sidequests and minigames they cram into those because I don't care enough, and because...well, I guess Yahtzee said it best in his Grand Theft Auto 4 video: "It's like the game is trying to distract you from actually playing it."

I didn't part with my sixty bucks because I want to spend forever and a day dashing all over the world map hunting down random shit at the behest of every NPC I come across for no other reason than to be able to say that I did it. I want to have fun, and trying to get 100% completion isn't fun, it's work. And...hell, time to paraphrase Yahtzee again: "A game that feels like work isn't much of a game."

I play until I get bored of a game, I dont actually seek out every little collectable unless there is some kind of reward for doing so, like secret characters, new moves, new costumes etc

Zelda games. I play through, beat the game. Then go back. Then if there's still stuff to be found, it's time for the walkthroughs. Then go back and play again without walkthrough and beat the game and get everything and ride Ganon like My Little Pony.

Isn't that the point of a video game? To waste time ...? You have a spare hour to kill before work, or a meeting, and so you play a couple rounds of CoD4.

Oblivion is one of the games you only play for the sidequests. The Sidequests/guild quests are actually fun o.o The main quest is annoying and repetitive ...

Same with Morrowind .... SOOOOO much to do (especially with expansions and mods) .... same with NWN 2 .... main quests = tedious ... side quests / guild quests (or in th Case of NWN ... some awesome mods)

I'm going to put down 'No', but it perhaps would have been better as a three question polls ... 'yes', 'no' and 'For as long as I'm interested in a game' ....

If you had the last response in your poll I woulkd have clicked it.

For non-linear games, I like to see what I *would* get if I go the 'long route' through a game.... I want to see whether as a non-linear game whether the developers did a good job of creating an open world.

Otherwise ... what's the point of playing an open-world game?

If I like a game enough to finish it I'll usually replay it and try to finish it 100%. Just depends on how much I enjoy it Also games like MGS4 with all the emblems, I'll do the hardest one but not the rest.

I guess it depends on what you call 100%.

If I have the time, i usually shoot for total completion. But i am very busy most of the time so hitting that mark is happening less and less often.

I just play game until I get bored. It's there for entertainment, after all.

And if I'm not bored before I've fully completed it, then it was too short.
