I consider it an FPSRPG with XTC, LBP TwiddleyDee influences & a hint of some other pointless threadcreating acronym debate inducing trio of capitol letters

Imagine you're playing it in third person view with bare fists and never using a gun. Would you call it a boxing game?

The point I'm getting at: it's an RPG in which you happen to be able to use guns. The choice of view negates the FP-anything side of it.

First person shooter with RPG elements.
I would say rpg with fps elements. Twitch skills take a back seat to your skill with any particular type of firearm.

If we can consider Bioshock an FPSRPG then I think Fallout 3 falls into the category easily enough.

I think so, although one could argue otherwise since the game can be viewed from multiple perspectives.

Bioshock wasn't really an rpg at all. Fallout 3 is an RPG/FPS (predominately rpg with fps elements).

While I still think Fallout 3 was massively flawed and typical of a Bethesda game it wasn't anywhere near as bad as Bioshock.

Fallout 3 is an RPG with guns mixed in, not that I'm complaining. The amount of choices you have when leveling up is just amazing. Love the different perks and skills you can choose. But the shooting is just horrible, guns don't feel heavy at all.

I would say, just from what I've seen and played of the game,
that's it is an RPG with guns.
The game style for an RPG was just new for most people who played it, so maybe they get confused?

first off the poll is not a yes or no question. and second it is an FPS with RPG aspects
That discribes Bioshock more than Fallout 3.
No, Bioshock was just an FPS where you could by weapons and skills.
It would be an RPG if you actually had to choose, but you didnt have to.

I think it is Oblivion with guns. Ohohohohohoho.

In all seriousness, it is more or less an RPG. There are many menu based systems, and most actions, even in real time, are determined by stats. It has some FPS aspects, but as previously stated, its success is determined by your stats. Fallout 3 may have less RPG elements than its predecessors, but it is still an RPG.

The inference is that because the term describes another game more closely than Fallout 3, it's not a suitable term for Fallout 3. In reality, it can easily describe both.
No it doesn't, you can remove the RGP parts of bioshock and there will still be a game. You will have a hard time making one, and the logic you use will be flawed but you can do it.

You can't take the RPG out of Fallout 3 and still pull together a game.

So it isn't a FPS with RPG parts.

Also if you say a tomato is yellow, and I say the discripes a bananna more than a tomato, am I saying only a bananna is yellow?

No, because thats stupid.
