Also, sensing some Jock-Hate in here. That really shocks me. There aren't really athletic types still picking on nerds are there? I hung out with jocks all through high school and it was always pretty cool.

Was always the kids who were heavy into drugs that gave me trouble, and the jocks always stayed clean so they could stay in shape.
That.

There are a few really athletic people on these boards. What does that make them? Nerds or Jocks?
That's quite the head-spinner.

I hereby forever change the order of the "cake cliche".

I dislike labels, but as the typical stereotype of "nerd" is a sniveling anti-social computer geek capable of hacking into the pentagon but unable to look a girl in the face, I'm not.

Bah! I guess this shows just how much interpretation there is involved here. I know people like this. Really, I do. And I don't consider them nerds. Being a sedentary, anti-social shut-in has nothing to do with liking games, reading or any of the more cerebral or imaginitive hobbies and it certainly has nothing to do with the way I feel about being Nerdy.

I think maybe this thread has to come to an end.

Nerd = Noun; Ambiguous

I'm not a nerd, I'm a 20th level Paladin/Cleric/Mage.

Levelling is a *****!

In all seriousness, I play SMoTA regularily with my friends as well as other WC3 mods nad Halo, SSBB, DnD, etc, etc.

And I have read hitchhikers guide to the galaxy about 3 times in the last week. It NEVER gets old :D.

My Search-O-Ray tells me this thread has been done before....

I'm an enthusiast. When there is something I love, I get enthusiastic about it. I get to know things about it, I become passionate, knowledgeable on the subject and able to argue for hours on it.

I love my spirts, I love my cars? and I love my PC games.

Don?t play on anything else, don?t want to; Its an inferior experience on those dirty, godless consoles. PC gaming has been an enthusiasm that over the years has imparted quite a large amount of knowledge about computers. As a result, I?ve become a closet geek. Its not that apparent to those who don?t know me, but its there? The inner geek, waiting like some hideous monster to jump out at the wrong time.

From example: I?ll be at a pub, happily discussing work, then some fuckwit brings up games. I start talking, passionately, and the girl eyeing me at the bar loses interest.

Fuck you inner geek.

I guess I am, I enjoy working with computers (I work with, and am going to school for them) and I am a huge fan of Pen and Paper RPG's.

But I still love partying, drinking, having a good time with lots of different people.

I sprayed nerd juices all over myself when I heard a KOTOR 3 was in production. Then killed people for it being a MMO.

So...what's your point? How is it hypocritical? Why is being a nerd nothing to be proud of?

I think your conception of an 'uber-nerd' is misconceived. I don't think it's even possible for anyone to talk 1337 in real life.

It'd be like,
"upslash-dash-upslash-one!!" (|-|1= Hi)
"Y-zero, n-one-six-six-four, five-u-nine?" (Y0, n1664, 5u9= Yo nigga, sup?)

See, doesn't work.

That post looks like a pile of matches covered in oil.

--" they talk gamer in rl not 1337 ...
its more like:
"im like going to like school n stuf L o L haha"
"Ohhh L M A O dude me2 its like that time we were were on TF2 n stuff n we were realy Powning l o l"

***note abriviations are pronounced by theyre letters and they over use the words "like" "n stuff" "lol"

Nerd - an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a narrow selection of hobbies or pursuits.

If that's the definition then everyone who can name all the players on their football team, their positions and the manager and the best tactics - Is a Nerd.

I am also a nerd but because i like games (alot, and i am interested in the news of the gaming world) and films and music and drinking etc.

Well... I'm a major geek in some ways I guess..

I know distubingly alot about pokémon. I know by how much the damge increases by super effective moves, critical hits and so forth. Also I had a period with Warhammer Fantasy Battles, but I've taken a break from it atm, cause there are no others around here who are playing it. And every time I advertise for it, they're all giving me a strange look...

On the other hand, I'm active. I play football/soccer, and I'm a very social person.

So, I count myself as a hybrid :p

Oh yeah, and I play World of Warcraft x)
