Go with the flow. It's more fun. But once I gave myself a gun on purpose. That was about it though.

I can't control my dreams, I only go as far as knowing when I'm dreaming. Anyway, my dreams are really random and I like to see where they'll take me, so I wouldn't try to influence them in any way even if I could. Unless I was dying horribly or something.

I've only had a lucid dream once in my entire life. It was fairly unremarkable. I was standing in my kitchen for reasons I can no longer remember, realized I was dreaming, and proceeded to fly around the room. I woke up shortly thereafter. I haven't been able to do it again since.

Once I realize that this is a dream, I decide I want to to take it my way and my sub-conscious can just fuck off.

I don't control my 'nightmares' because usually they are more entertaining and put together better. However sometimes I'll realise that I'm being unrealistic (e.g. I can't sword fight) so I'll go back and redo a section of dream.

That being said usually the moment I start to realise I'm dreaming the same little bit just starts looping

I'm in control of myself when in them, for the most part, but the rest of the dream is just random. Probably because I only started dreaming the last week. I'm in three a night now.

Both, but I like them way better when I don't control them. If I accidentally start to, I just make myself wake up, and go back to sleep.
I also wake up shortly after taking control. Why do you think that is? My theory is that controlling dreams requires conscious thought. Conscious thought would increase brain activity to higher than normal levels and then your subconscious freaks out because there is too much activity and you wake up.

The few chances that I get to control my dreams I take and run with. Those are usually the only dreams I remember. I can't even remember the last dream that I had.
That makes sense. I guess thats why if I try to change large things in my dream like the setting I wake up. But when I change little things like objects or people my dream continues.

When i want to dream of something specific I go to sleep while thinking about it really hard. This still only works about 50% of the time for me.

I can't control them.
I don't particularly want to either.

They're more fun if they're unexpected, as is everything.

I can do both. When I manage to manipulate them it's just glorious. I once managed to raid the candy section of a supermarket. I swear, it even tasted real!

I rarely ever have dreams.

Like, at all.
Obligatory "everyone dreams but not everyone remembers" comment. It's true according to most articles I've read.

I do both actually. Though I prefer to control my dreams, as for me, they are infinitely more entertaining in this way ^~^!

I'm trying to train myself to be able to lucid dream more often(It's apparently possible), because I would love nothing more then be able to pick what I dream about.

Both. My mind sometimes betrays me though. If my dream takes place at night and I am alone I think, 'I hope I don't get jumped' only to get jumped or see creepy looking people. Other times I think to myself, 'This guy is not going to screw with me any more!' and I beat him more violently than Bruce Lee on steroids. I don't normally mess with the setting: those kinda just happen. I wish I had total control though...dreams are a great form of escapism and there are some things I would rather delude myself into thinking are true.

I have controlled dreams, and sometimes I'll think "Oh shit it would suck if X happens!"- and then it happens, but nowadays if I try and take control or realize I'm dreaming I will usually wake up as a result.
