Automatic. I'm considered a bit odd in the UK as I don't actually have a licence to drive manual cars and can only drive autos.

What can I say? I was in a car wreck in the middle of a frigging driving lesson years ago and it took a long time to drive again. I know how to drive manual but felt a little bit more in control in auto, it was a rule change that I needed to get back on the proverbial horse.

That said, I still control the gears but I do it with my foot. I change down at will and control changing up as much as I want or need to.

Both my folks now drive auto and wonder why they ever bothered with manual.

And the thing is - I have a car that is both =) I drive it in auto mode. But if I wanted to, I could just grab the stick, hit a switch and drive it manual. Which seems odd I know given my opening statement, but the licence for autos is for cars with no clutch pedal - with an electronic gear box, the clutch is no longer needed I suppose. But it is rarely necessary? OK, if I really really needed to overtake something I suppose that I could use the stick rather than kick-down with my foot, but I have yet to miss a kick-down after 15 years or so, so what would be the point?

I'm European so manual of course, duh. Though I have driven automatic too and it isn't that bad when you are driving through town for the whole of your 12 hour shift.

I technically drive both. Was taught to drive manual when I was young, but have owned automatic cars. My bike however is a manual. So it depends on which vehicle I'm driving.
