No, because ,no mater what the game, if I could beat it I would, now I only beat games I really like, even if I own them.

Both actually. In some ways I enjoy games less now and in some ways I enjoy them more.
When I was younger I just played games because they were fun, and didn't care much for the stories because for a long time couldn't beat games. So I enjoyed them for how it played and not what they were about.
Now that I am older I am a lot better at games and can enjoy the story of them a lot more. And now that I am older I have the ability to buy whatever game I want. Another plus is I grew a spine and can play older survival horror games now which I couldn't do before because they scared me way too much.
So yeah I both enjoy gaming nowadays more and less than when I was a kid.

Yeah I think I still like them just as much. When I was a kid I wasn't allowed to get new games past 2001 so I was constantly going to friends' houses to play their games.
I had a friend that wasn't allowed to watch PG rated TV shows until she was sixteen. My video game, music and movie collection was her most beloved secret :p

OT: I had more fun with games when I was younger, but I enjoy them more now.
That is truly terrible. I feel for her over-the-top sheltered life style D:

Mine wasn't a sheltering issue... my parents just thought I was a video game addict >.>

She ended up studying a lot and being something of a genius. How much that's owed to the no video game, no TV, no music lifestyle, I can't say. On a super selfish note, she spent a lot of time at my house, so our parents used to just let us have sleepovers all the time. My first kiss ended up being with her under my bed. Obviously it was pretty meaningless lol, but it's one of my fonder memories of childhood ^^ Something fun came of her sheltered life--or rather, of her wanting to escape that life XD

You, a video game addict? You sure showed them wrong, right Fappy! Here, on this video game website, talking about video games ;P
I know right. I am a failure!

The only way out now is seppuku. Restore your family's honour!
I leave all of my belongings to Nasrin's cat. Tell Daystar I intentionally left him out of my will and that he is a poop-head.

Woah, woah, woah. Nothing to me? This is bullshit! ;-;
Take it up with Nasrin's cat. You might be able to get some of the things that require opposable thumbs to use.

I don't have nearly as much time as I would like to play games now. I have too much stuff going on it my life (city councilman, paramedic, firefighter, father, ect) to sit down and play games like I did when I was a kid. I'm glad that I'm not running for reelection this year because I just want more time with the other things and games and music.

I would say that I don't enjoy CURRENT games as much as I still enjoy VINTAGE games. Those games that were from my "spent all my tima and allowance in arcades" youth. I can't play modern games for more than an hour or so before I turn the system off....but I can sit in front of my Ultracade and play Galaga or Pac Man for an afternoon without hesitation.

Interesting question.

Do I enjoy games as much as when I was younger? Yes.

Do I enjoy the same games as much as when I was younger?

Yes, even with a more mature persective on their lack of perfection, I still believe the three Final Fantasys released for the PS1, the first two Legacy of Kain games, and the original Metal Gear Solid are indespensible classics, and there's not a moment I don't enjoy playing them.

Do I enjoy newer games as much as older games?

Aside from my assertion that Metal Gear Solid 4 almost certainly not. This isn't even necessarilly because the games that are being made are of lower quality, they're just of a different quality. There are less of my favorite kinds of games being made, and those that are made simply aren't as good. For example, I can't remember the last time a series of games with the scope and ambition of the Legacy of Kain series was being undertaken. I'm also still waiting around for any major company to admit that turn-based/ATB-based JRPGs worked just fine and get back to making those instead of trying to fix problems that are pretty much only seen by people outside of the genre's audience.

Games like Xenoblade Chronicles, Resonance of Fate, Portal 2, Fallout 3 and others are all very good. I've really enjoyed playing them, but I have yet to play a game that I've managed to emotionally connect to as say, FinalFantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Soul Reaver 2, Legacy of Kain: Defiance, or the original Kingdom Hearts. That's not so much a problem as it means that whereas I was part of the larger audience in the 90's to mid-2000's or so, I'm quite simply not. The tastes of gamers at large has shifted dramatically towards genres that I was simply never that into. That's fine, I'll keep enjoying the new games and being glad I have the old ones.

I used to use games to escape reality and "be someone else" Now I love my own life, I don't enjoy them as much.

I almost miss the times when I was younger, and only had one or two games, and played them to death. (Seriously, I know the AI from the original UFO/X-COM and Master Of Orion like you wouldn't believe.)
We had the same 'double header' disk didn't we?

I think it's developed more - I enjoy the escapism as much as ever - and I appreciate more

So I enjoy it as much as ever....

But I don't know I just wish I could really knuckle down to a 7 hour session I seem to have to much real life in my virtual life....it's really hard to enjoy a game in 30/40 min sessions

I still love playing games, I just unfortunately don't have enough time to play them as much as I would like now.
