I like watching games almost as much as playing them. Depends on the game for me though. I wouldn't enjoy watching somebody play a game I wouldn't enjoy playing myself.

I will watch them play any genre.... apart from puzzle games. Watching someone who hasn't completed the game yet, while you have,is a form of torture. You don't want to tell them how to solve it(and if its a play through walk through then you can't) but you can see they are doing it wrong.

I'm really bad at watching other people play, unless i'm sure they are good at it. I have this uncontrollable habit of snatching the controller away when someone does something wrong. I don't mean it, it's just a compulsion of "your not doing this right, let me show you".

I don't mind watching a couple of my friends play who are actual gamers like me. Like watching one play Amnesia at night with headphones on.

depends on the game. a grind heavy rpg? fuck no. generally i find the old resident evil games more fun to watch than to play...actually survival horror in general is more fun to watch than play (i hate survival horror controls)

No I have to be playing or I'll fall asleep, this includes taking turns on a fighting game. I have a very short attention span.

I watch a lot of LPs and will continue to do so as long as they are entertaining.

In real life though, I haven't enjoyed watching someone play a game in a long time. My brothers both have a bad habit of getting way too frustrated and complain(bitching, moaning, yelling, saying the game is cheating, etc) anytime things don't go their way. And it doesn't help that they are often playing games I paid for on my console and in my room.

I don't like watching friends play. I just get impatient >.> The only time I do like watching video games being played is when there's commentary.

I enjoy watching people play games, most types of playthrough's too. I do find a lot of speed run's irritating though.

It can be enjoyable - all the fun of the story with none of the button mashing. Some games lend themselves to it. I watched my other half play the first Uncharted. It was accidental really - I happened to be next to him on the sofa reading while he started it. I kept looking up to see what was going on, and an hour later my book was forgotten.

Watching people play shooters is a bit dull though, or sports games. I don't get that - those are the kinds of games you need to be playing, not experiencing second hand.

There was this Megaman let's play done a while ago that was pretty good. It was informative, and addressed you as if you had never heard of the franchise.

If I was going to watch straight gaming, it would have to be something I know I could enjoy playing, like Mario Cart.

I hate watching competitive, but everything else is fine.
I'm actually thinking of doing my own sort of "annotated playthrough" thing, basically a Let's Play where I don't do a real-time voiceover, but record me playing then chuck text on afterwards, all comedic-like and stuf

Partly because I'm shy and partly because it just looks cool in my head.

I like watching people play, i offer constant advice and spot things the person playing doesn't. I like people watching me for the same reason...nothing wrong with assistance. They can do the rolling while i play lol :)

I like watching some LPs, like Shamus Young's Spoiler Warning and I've watched Graham and Pauls short yet entertaining LP of Venetica and the other one they did live on the escapist. I have also watched some of the VGA LP on tgwtg.

also, it depends on the game aswell.

I have tried watching LP of someone playing puzzle games, like aforementioned VGA's LP of Portal 2....dear god it gets really annoying when you know the answer and the person playing is very oblivious.

Depends. I don't watch walkthroughs, I only ever read them if it comes to that, because I'm still kind of doing it myself that way, and I can also skip only to the specific action/part I'm not getting.

Watching a re-play of myself playing a game will make me suicidal because of all of the potential parts where I was dicking around; should have seen something coming; walked right past an enemy in the other room; etc. However, I enjoy watching short replays of my badassness; funny/crazy stuff that happened, usually in sandbox games; and final killcams though, because they can make conversation topics with friends, and stroke my ego.

I enjoy watching Let's Plays from people I enjoy. Like, say, Graham and Paul. I also enjoy shows like Unskippable. And Loading Ready Run in general. (/fanboy)

I don't really enjoy watching other people play games just because on the internet; but I sometimes enjoy watching people play games in person, usually if they're my friend. Like someone else said, it's usually because conversation, especially about the game, is happening constantly. I usually like action games (See: first person shooters; anything from Bethesda) and sandboxes that are actually fun (See: Grand Theft Auto games; again, Bethesda; Just (be)Cause 2).

And although I'm not the kind of person who's interested in those kinds of games, I guess watching however many people play, say, a fighting game, especially if they're really good, could be enjoyable.

I don't know what to put for the poll, so I'll just put Let's Plays. Tack me down as a technical for anything else applicable, though.

I definitely enjoy watching video games being played. I'm subscribed to a lot of people on youtube that do "let's plays", and I still might look up a game walkthrough/playthrough (with or without commentary) from other youtubers I'm not subscribed to if I got nothing to better to do. Also seen a few speed runs, and it is amazing what people can pull off sometimes.

Watching friends play games is also great. Be it The Suffering, SMT: Nocturne or Monster Hunter, it's all fun to watch to me :p
