How could you not see the join date directly under the post count?
I don't know. I have the incredible ability to focus my sight on some things and block other things I'm looking at directly.

I don't know how I do it...

Quality over Quantity. take a look at the now-late MaxTheReaper, 16300+ Posts in a year as opposed to say punkhead58 with 250+ within the 18 months time-frame. (example by the way)

Not so much length of time, but it's a pretty accurate measurement of their experience. Someone can gain a lot of experience by being really active for a week, or they can conversely gain very little by just coming on now and again for a month. Post count doesn't indicate time spent, but it sure as heck points to their experience on this forum. And experience is much, much more important than time.

No, some little kid could have just been posting worthless shit and gotten over 9000 posts in a day, but how long you have been a member of the escapist doesnt matter at all

Oh hi.
*ahem*

Addiction is a real problem in today's society.
With that out of the way:
Having no social drive and a tendency to obsess on things will do that...
As will finding a cool group of people to banter with in Forum Games.

Post count used to be the way until the RP thread came in.

Nowadays I see people who have been for for less than a year with 10000+ posts and just think "...Dude.."

Wait, the date they joined is on there... Sonofabitch! I usually just equate post count with seniority.

I've learned on message boards that post count =/= time spent on the board. Some people just lurk. Others arn't heavy on the posting for whatever reason....they only wanna post quality, they're afraid of being judged, they have nothing to post about, they're on multiple boards already and join this one which only adds to the mounting deluge of....you get the point.

The only thing I look at post count for is when I see a post and think "wow, that isn't kosher. Oh, only 34 posts that explains it". Otherwise I look directly below it at the joined date.

I look at join date to figure out when a person joined. I'm just funny like that.

Oh, and it annoys the crap out of me when somebody who joined a week ago has 4,000+ posts. It indicates they concern themselves more with posting than with making sure what they have to say is worthwhile.
Who exactly are these people? I see a lot of people saying this, but I never really notice it. Sure I see people who make meaningless posts, but they usually have less than 1000.
It would be rude of me to say. Anyway, I don't remember their names. But if you joined less than six months ago and have more than 7,000 posts, I'm probably talking about you.

Ive been on the escapist since like, october 2008 but my account got banned. So you cant just assume someone is new here cuz of there join date or somthing, things like new accounts and stuff
Did you just admit to ban jumping, or did the mods give you some sort of special second chance?

I have caught myself doing that, unfortunately. Like sasquatch99, for example: every time I see that guy I can't help but think he's a senior member due to his enormous post count, but he's only been here for 4 months! He gives well-thought out posts though, so I don't really care.

It really shouldn't. Because well, as it has already been said, people post in large quantities, the quality varying. Then you have the kind of person who doesn't post, or posts very little, like myself. I'm trying to get away from that, but meh.

All in all, like most things, it depends on the person.

Of course not, that's what that little date is for right under the post count. It's just a millimetre guys, don't tell me you don't see it.

Sasquatch#### is a great example of this. He's got the Dr from Scrubs as his avatar.

Not being rude, I've discussed the matter with him. He averages like 80 posts a day or something. He's not low content either.

Which is more than Neonbob, who roughly averages at around 58.
And that proves one thing: don't judge how a person is on a forum only by his join date or post count. Just read his/her posts and thén judge.

first of all, I really couldnt care less how long someone has been on a forum, but if I wonder... I guess I look at their sign up date... Like Spock, it's logical
