Oh, I didn't realise they had adverts or popups etc...

Adblock sure does make the internet a cleaner place, huh?
Mods and staff don't like Adblock. You should probably prepare for some mod wrath, I think they give out suspensions for it. Probably should've read the rules, huh?

OT: Never. They never interest me in the first place, and even if they did I know better.
(marginally related rant snip)

BAN ME OR TAKE OFF THE POLICY AGAINST ADBLOCKERS! IF YOU GIVE ME A TEMPORARY BAN I WILL JUST POST THIS AGAIN WHEN I AM OUT! SCREW THE ESCAPIST AND ITS RIDICULOUS POLICIES!
Ads are a source of revenue for the site. Blocking ads blocks revenue. No need to get so worked up about it.

EDIT: Oh, you're a troll. Well, I guess I'll just give you a "cool story bro".

Only by accident, like when IGN has those full page ads that just reskin their site. I hate those. They can die by falling in a pit of rusty spikes. I'm not an explorer of the internet (I spend 99% of my time on the internet on The Escapist, ESPN, Destructoid, Netflix, and a couple of blogs I follow. The other 1% is just time spent researching or shopping a specific thing. I've never even been to TV Tropes, which I see referenced here a lot). The internet is a weird, dirty cesspool that I'd rather not wander around in. So ads don't earn my interest at all.

yeah, that no talking about Adblock policy is really out of place. Does Escapist even have ads that adblock can block (so not counting the videos)?

So anyway, NO. I do not click on ads. Ads are bothersome and I refuse to be galled by them. I will decide for myself on whether to buy said product, period.

When I remember, I click on ads to help give good quality sites a tiny bit of revenue. After all, they give me their content for free.

And very occasionally I will click an advert if it looks interesting. Though this doesn't seem to be often.

Oh and all those morons championing their ad-blockers. The sense of unfounded entitlement you have is sadly all to prevalent in modern times, and is frankly abominable.

The fact it's even seen is the reason a website can make money. It's inadvertently fueling the commerce of the internet whether or not you click, so live and let live. The more forward and annoying the advertisement is, the worse, but the better for clicks.

I find it plain abusive to website users to run advertisement heavy. It kinda makes me mad such a fine publication like the Escapist actually needs the heavy advertising because it kinda ruins the image of the website for me. Crying at night helps me cope with stuff like this.

They have flash ads on the escapist now? I didn't even notice...
Oh, now that you mention it. The mass effect ones? Guess my brain is hardwired to be an ad-blocker by now y.y

No I never click on the pop up ads. I am a bit paranoid when it comes to things like pop up ads, they actually say that these ads generate a lot of revenue but I don't know that many people that click on them.

If something spams me too much I will not buy it out of general principle. Like that movie Arthur I saw that ad so much on you tube, I don't care anymore wether it's good or not I am not gonna see it nor buy it. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks too much ad spam backfires.

I despise ads. They are a vector for viruses, are invasive, and be noisy or distracting from content and are generally an unwanted waste of space. Surely you could just put the at the bottom of the page, or somewhere out of the way? No-one really wants to look at them, very few people click on them because they are actually interested in the product offered, they are tantamount to useless for their ostensible task, doing little better than promoting a brand in a manner that I find cheapens it in the extreme (seriously, no matter what it is flashing and blinking and sliding around, it's always going to look like shit. I wouldn't even click on one that would offer me my own personal jet pack: it would either be a scam or con, a straight up lie, a "prize draw" for all your personal information, a virus or something along those lines. If it looked real, I would google it and look for a source, not go through some crummy ad service.)

Their only mitigating factor is the revenue they generate for websites, allowing new industries and the such-like to flourish without charging subscriptions. *insert discussion about banned subject*

This thread is a trap.

I voted in the poll but I'm not going to say anything more.

I certainly don't regularly, but there have been occasions when the site/item/service advertised has intrigued me enough to click. I don't think I've ever actually bought anything after I click over though.

To be honest I never notice ads unless there thrust into my face like a cream pie, you know like they play at the start of a vid on youtube or take up half the screen and I have to cross hunt.

It took me a year to notice the massive advert at the top of the escapist home page, that cycles Extra Credits and few other things.

I never click on them 'cos I never see them basically.
