Nearly all the time, especially Western RPGs, where you actually get a choice in most of the big decisions, I like to see the different endings, or where those decisions lead. JRPGs, I like to replay them, but I always end up doing the same thing (most optimum setup for my party).

I do in fact but only in certain occasions.

If the RPG I've played has been very good in my eyes then I usually tend to wait quite a long time before replaying it. I treat it somewhat like nostalgia so I usually wait at least 5+ years for it before going back to it.

This is one example. One other would be a game that I enjoyed so much that I wanted to see the other side of the coin, like the Witcher franchise. I played both for Roche and Iorveth to see their stories, then replayed the game again to choose differently in the last chapter. I think I have around 3 playthroughs of Witcher I and 6 playthroughs of Witcher 2.

When I didn't have access to internet back in the day, I remember fondly my times with Gothic 2, which when in lack of games, I finished it around 8 times, but not solely for being bored. I enjoyed that game immensely and explored every inch of it's world.

Now this is an interesting question. RPGs are definitely my favorite genre of game, but when and how often I replay them rather depends on the game.

For the Knights of the Old Republic franchise, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and quests, with even just one small side-quest still sitting in my memory as the Best. Quest. Evar. But as much as I liked it, I haven't really found myself able to replay it. While the story is fun, it is mostly simplistic; a celebration of the classic Star Wars experience without much else to it. On top of that, the player's 'choice' is just a binary equation of completely good, or completely evil. And not even that. The most gut-wrenchingly saintly Jedi that ever floated an inch off the ground, or the pettiest bully ever to wring his hands with spiteful glee. You could vary up your choices, but the game didn't give you any reason for that. As far as I could see, the game didn't even give you any reason to be evil, either. Just psychotic, spiteful behavior with the flimsy justification of a few extra credits.

KotOR 2, on the other hand, I have replayed half a dozen times. Despite the blander levels and comparative lack of polish, I hold it to be a superior experience. There is a deceptive amount of depth to its gameplay, but especially in its story. Despite the nonsensical ending, the morality at play is much more interesting. You are allowed to be the saint or the psycho, but you can also be a good person doing bad things for good reasons, a bad person doing good things for bad reasons, and many combinations. While Light and Dark Side points were doled out, very few quests would have the one simple 'good' and 'bad' decision. This has been the only game where I have been able to play an 'evil' character, because with the choices I am given, that behavior actually makes sense. And while the various companions might have been somewhat less loveable than the first game, I appreciated that I needed to win their trust before they spouted their life-story to me. And there is of course no way to gain full influence with them all in one playthrough.

For Skyrim, I did my usual Bethesda RPG routine of playing through the main quest once through to learn the ins and outs, and then again as a much slower, considered experience at harder difficulties. I like to be able to make informed decisions about my character build, and which quests I take when and how. It also allows me to go more in-depth with the persona of the character that I am roleplaying. Since then I've played through the main quest one more time, and invested about 300 hours over the period of a few months. But I have found myself coming back only occasionally. Skyrim provided me a short, intense burst of enjoyment, but I haven't found much in it to lure me back.

And then... Morrowind. My first love. My personal best game of all time. That I bought more than two years ago, and I continue to come back, playing nearly every day. The depth and richness of the lore, the interesting narrative for quests, the gameplay structure, the exploration, the magic system, the reading, the armor-design, and even the combat gameplay is all perfect for me. Certainly the game has many flaws, but all this and more is corrected by perhaps the most amazing modding community in gaming. I've probably played through the entire main quest with its expansions plus one entirely fan-made expansion over a dozen times now, most often with the exact same character. And no matter how many times I play, I always seem to find something new.

All the time. Earthbound and Morrowind are games I replay on a pretty regular basis. Almost every time I play I catch something new that I didn't see the previous time around.

Hell, half my PS2 lineup consists of old RPGs that I get around to replaying every once in awhile.

2 factors involved for me when wondering if i fancy replaying an rpg:

1) How much story interactivity is there? Can i play the game differently and alter the story?
To give random examples: alpha protocol and any final fantasy, in the case of AP its a resounding YES to the above and as a result is immediately replayable as soon as you finish the game. Final fantasy games by contrast tend to be inflexible as hell, so need to let a lot of time linger before i want to reexperience the same identical story.

2) How fun is the main combat system or w/e makes up the gaming meat of the game?
An rpg with a nice and detailed leveling system with plenty of room for customization is more immediately replayable then one with more linear levelling progression. To give quick examples: FFX allows for more flexible levelling then ff7 does, in that game the only real customization comes from materia you find whilst playing.

Multiply these 2 by each other divided by how long its been since i played it and you get the formula for how long it takes until i replay a particular rpg. So yeh i replay the rpgs i like, its all a question of when.

Oh: you meant Action Adventure Games! There is no such thing as a "RPG" on consoles or computers. I'm replaying Final Fantasy 7 on PC and it takes me back to my childhood.

It depends on the RPG games I played. If I like it and think it's worth playing again, I'll play it again. But if I play it and I didn't like it, then I won't play it again

At least eighteen full play-throughs of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

About fourteen full play-throughs of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.

Twelve full playthroughs of Fable: The Lost Chapters.

So, uh... yeah, I replay them sometimes. :p

I used to live in the middle of nowhere with really bad internet, and that's about all there was to do. They're all great games though, so NO REGRETS!

Would replaying Diablo 2 and Torchlight 2 count?

If so then yes. I've replayed the hell out of those two games. Though, with Torchlight 2 being my new go-to arpg I don't really revisit Diablo 2 anymore.

Um... what? It's a game where you play a role. Whether it's the gruff bad-ass with the heart of gold, the sneaky pirate only out for loot, the strong, independent woman who can put a bullet through someone's brain at a hundred paces, the goody-two-shoes that can't resist helping someone in need...

RPGs not only exist in the gaming world, they're a staple.

I replay RPGs more than any other game, espacially the old school ones. It's a comfortable sort of thing. I've played final fantasy 1 (GBA with the extra dungeons) at least 10 times.

Always. I've probably replayed every game on my shelf at least once. And for most of the FF titles, it'll be half a dozen or more times each. I don't buy too many games, maybe one or two a year, but I love going back to the old ones.

I'd like to say I've played Tactics the most, but it's probably FFVI, with IV a close second, since those came out 20-some years ago and I've owned them since then. (And all my old consoles still work.)

Only sometimes, if the RPG is really good. I've restarted playing Suikoden Tierkreis recently, and I wanna start on Lunar: Silver Star Harmony soon. It all depends the game, really. I tend to not replay RPG's very fast though. It's been years since I've touched Suikoden, for example. Same goes for Lunar. They're not the first thing I jump on for extended entertainment

I usually replay games a lot and most of my games are RPGs. I'm currently doing a Fallout 3/New Vegas[footnote]I have a mod called "Tale of Two Wastelands" which merges Fallout 3 and New Vegas together.[/footnote] playthrough. I'm halfway through a Dragon Age: Origins playthrough in order to do Dragon Age 2 again in preparation for DA3. I've also done three Oblivion main quest playthroughs and I'm on my third Skyrim playthrough.
To be honest, a majority of my original playthroughs were unmodded. All of my current playthroughs (except DA:O) now have at least 5 mods each. New Vegas alone has about 40 mods (about 4 of which aren't activated) and Skyrim has 43.

I usually replay them if they are any good, though there are some really good ones that I do NOT simply due to how much of an ordeal it would be.

Foremost would be Xenogears. Aside from the hook up of an old console, that game is easily a 80+ hr time sink that I've already been through 2 times and I doubt I'll ever want to do that again.

Black Sigil is a great game, but the encounter rate is so absurdly high that it saps your will to play it again.

Now, games that I have easily played 10 times each would be Soul Blazer, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Breath of Fire 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 1/2/4/5/6, Shadowgate, and Crystalis.

I'm doing the same. Just finished Origins and am about to start Awakening, then onto Dragon Age II.

What I am wondering though is if they are going to bother with imports this time. Dragon Age II ignored a pretty big thing, such as a character getting her head chopped off, and Dragon Age 3 is going to be on a completely different game engine.

Bioware have established a 'canon' series of events with the novels and comics, I could see them using that timeline rather than allowing players to import their own.

The only RPG I ever replayed was Kingdom Hearts. Does that count?
Yes... Yes, it does...
Although, it's more of a "Yes, but only..." kind of a "Yes"...

OT: Yes, especially series like Kingdom Hearts, Tales of, Persona, and "Mario & Luigi"...

Out of all of the RPGs that I have played, there were only two that I didn't replay mostly due to their overall gameplay presentation... Other than that, every RPG that I do play ends up getting replayed at least more than once...

Oh god yes - personally I feel an RPG has been a little bit of a failure if I don't want to play it again once I've finished it and the number of times I want to replay them separates the classics (Mass Effect, Ultima) from the also-rans (Jade Kindgom, for example).
