I saw a comment on a You tube silent hill 2 walkthrough something like "for the people who watch this for the plot skip to-".
This made me curious do people actually do this or is this person a one off?
I am playing Silent hill Hd at the moment, so I am not doing this (just to be clear).

This is probably the weakest thread I have ever made but you know YOLO. (you only live once)

I watch full Let's Plays fairly often.
Mainly it's when I don't have the platform to play the game, aren't interested enough to buy the game, or just want to see some funny commentary. I've picked up a few games because of LPs though.

A few times with games that I'm curious about but they're either not on the PC, or the actual gameplay isn't something I'd enjoy. The Force Unleashed, Metal Gear Solid and God of War series being examples.

If I ever find myself subsequently discussing such games I try to stick to commenting on the story etc and not the gameplay.

I occasionally watch a Let's Play, and I watch them only for games I haven't played (aside from Freeman's Mind, which might arguably be called a Let's Play). I dislike video walkthroughs - they take up too much time. In fact, I dislike most video explanations of any sort (an eight fucking minute explanation of how to change some setting in some software, when all I needed was three lines of written explanation to say the same? You must be bloody joking). And besides, I prefer to watch Let's Plays of sort of shitty games...that came out wrong - "ones I wouldn't like playing" slightly more precisely.

So yeah, I sort of do that.

Only time I did that was watch an entire playthrough of "Bully: Scholarship Edition". I was curious to see what Rockstar was up to at the time. After I watched it, I thought "I want those three hours of my life back".

When ME2 was released I couldn't afford it and was really hyped to see everything that was going on. Once I play the first game of a series that really hooks me, I always turn into a giddy schoolgirl about the next instalment then lose interest for the third. Same thing happened with the Modern Warfare series.

If the game was one I was interested in but never bothered to buy I usually watch an LP through to the end. The LPer has to be somewhat interesting him/herself though...

SixBullets' Spess Mahreen LP that just started is a good example.

Some games just make epic LP material in their very nature, like Dark Souls. A blind DS LP is so damn funny.

"Hate snipers... Stupid snipers. Take that... With your 360 no-scope crossbows..."

I like watching League of Legends commentary as well. I even went to the Riot site and watched the finals of that pro tourney (in a fit of pure boredom)

Dat Ashe Arrow in the first match...

Oh Oh! UMVC3 tourneys are so fun as well! A pretty recent match had the most hilarious Doom teabag mid combo. Disrespectful indeed XD

The only game i have watched the play through for was amnesia: the dark descent and watching people freak out was way too funny.

Yes. The first time I did it was with Mass Effect 1, since my PC wasn't good enough, I only had a PS3, and ME 2 was just announced, so I had to find a way to see what it was all about.

I watched the Uncharted series by that guy who meshed it into 3 movies. I would break things if I had to do the climbing puzzles, but did like the story.

Only if there's an interesting Let's Play for a game that I have no interest in playing.

I saw one for Battlefield 3 and it was awesome.

I don't even watch walkthrough videos. I stick to text when I need a walkthrough (mainly because I can't stand hearing the voices of the people who make those walkthrough videos).

I rarely ever watch let's plays. The only times I do is when it is of a really terrible game I would never play (like Spoony's Phantasmagoria 2 LP). I like to play games more than watch them. It just does not make sense to me to watch someone else play a game I want to play, when I could be playing the game myself...

All the time. Isn't that kind of the whole point of a let's play? For when you just want to watch instead of play? (For whatever reason)

Don't bother telling me let's plays and walkthroughs are not the same. They are in my world.

Only for games that im interested in that I cant play, like Demon's Souls, because I absolutely love Dark Souls but I don't have a PS3 for Demon's souls.

I watched a play-through of Portal several years ago. Before Portal 2 was mentioned to be in the works. Mostly because I had no way to play the game itself and I wanted to see what everyone was going on about. I've also watched LPs of horror games, Fatal Frame, Amnesia, The Grudge for Wii, Penumbra, Korsakovia... but that's more to see reactions than for the games themselves. I've found some pretty funny reactions in games like those.

Edit: I'm also probably gonna check out LPs of the first Mass Effect, I want to play the series but I'm going to be getting a PS3 and my laptop is not built for a game like that so that may very well be my only way of learning of the story of the first chapter(aside from that motion comic I keep hearing about).
